  1. Feeling spoiled

    by , 09-28-2008 at 10:50 PM
Tonight I am kicking back in a hotel room suite. I just finished soaking in a giant jacuzzi tub, where I read the new issue of Star. Jamie knew I'd been feeling a little bored and worn out at home between keeping up with Mia's appointments and all of my homework, so he arranged for me to have a room at a nice hotel in the city tonight at one of his hotel's sister properties. I checked in at 5:30PM, then went shopping at the mall for a few hours. It felt nice to be free and not have anybody expecting ...

Sometimes I get on a kick and I like to say the F word A LOT. Just thought you should know.

  3. A Poem

    by , 09-18-2008 at 11:50 PM
I wrote this poem for the poetry class I'm in now:

    "Never Thought"

    Puke could be so darling
    Poop so desirable
    Sleep so elusive
    A smile so heart squeezing
    A cry so compelling
    A weight so comfortable
    Teeth so sharp
    Drool so plentiful
    Days so full
    That were once so empty.

  4. Mia's 1st Birthday-Pics

    by , 09-13-2008 at 11:25 PM
It was a fun party! She wore a lovely pink dress sent to her by Miss Ella and she loved getting to see the other kids. She was still feeling a little sick and she seemed tired, but she still had a great time. When we sang "Happy Birthday" she looked embarrassed by the attention and began to cry, until we stuck a blob of frosting in her mouth. Then she was fine. LOL. Here are pics:

  5. Mia's early intervention evaluation

    by , 08-27-2008 at 11:46 PM
We had Mia's eval on Monday and it went well. The therapists came to our house and it was very low key. Mia is 2 standard deviations behind in one area, and 1.5 behind in 2 other areas. Areas affected are gross motor skills, fine motor skills, and speech. They said that basically it is all linked to muscle weakness in her torso, most likely caused by the torticollis. We are eligibile for physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy, so she will be one busy girl soon. Jamie and ...

  6. Good news!

    by , 08-21-2008 at 01:44 AM
My mom had her lung x-ray that marked 1 year since she completed her chemo and it was clear! Considering that she was convinced she'd be dead by now, it is very good news.

Mia has been very cranky and sad with her new tooth coming in. I feel so sorry for her, but I feel sorry for me, too, as I've had very little sleep. LOL. Hopefully it will pop through soon.

  7. Mini rant

    by , 08-13-2008 at 12:37 AM
I have a sort of yuppy-ish high school friend whom I sometimes clash with. She has a baby around Mia's age, and my friend went back to work at her corporate job when her baby was 6 weeks old. Anyway, we were chatting one day and I told her that Mia loves television, and she said kind of haughtily "We don't let OUR baby watch TV." I was feeling a little bit bad, like I was a sucky mom until I thought about it. They get the baby up at 7AM, drop her off at daycare at 8AM, and pick her ...

  8. 1st Appointment with Early Intervention Tomorrow

    by , 08-10-2008 at 11:53 PM
I am meeting with the EI case worker to do the initial paperwork for Mia's evaluation tomorrow. It is exciting to think that there will be a whole panel of specialists evaluating her. If they determine she is delayed, they will be able to come up with a treatment plan. If they say she is still within the normal range, I will feel better letting things go and relaxing a bit. Either way, I can stop worrying a little. Yay!

  9. Mia's New Dress-Pic

    by , 08-08-2008 at 10:57 PM
This is my new favorite dress for Mia. I got it at a consignment shop for $3.00. It says it is 18 months, but either it is made small or Mia is really growing!

  10. New Pics of Mia, the Amish Cheerleader

    by , 08-06-2008 at 08:59 PM
Here are some new pics of Mia that my Mom, Dad, and I took of her today. My sis gave her a cheerleader outfit that is for a 6 month old that she will outgrow soon, and my FIL bought her a little Amish outfit a few months ago. I kept putting off taking the pics, but she barely squeezed into the Amish outfit. Here they are:
