  1. DH is ticking me off....

    by , 09-03-2008 at 10:53 AM
Dh and I were talking about the differences between our current cable/internet/phone provider (Cox) and the Fios option through Verizon. I have had some issues with the cable lately, prices going up, service suffering etc and was shopping around. We got a deal in the mail for Verizon, a significant savings price-wise with alot of added options. I told dh I was going to call about it and he was fine with it. So I did..

After speaking with Verizon I realize the overall savings are ...

  2. Healthy snacks....taking away snacks??!!

    by , 08-30-2008 at 10:31 AM
Our schools have had a "healthy snack" policy for a couple of years. Fine, no problem. They "recommended" healthy snacks but some kids still took in junk, mine included. While I tried to make things relatively healthy (100 calorie snacks, if they wanted cookies or chips), I tried to keep it healthy overall.

This year we get a note that says they ONLY want healthy snacks (ex given fruit, veggies, pretzels, crackers, granola bars) and if the child has anything ...

  3. The "what do your kids call your parents" thread got me thinking...

    by , 08-27-2008 at 08:18 AM
    Nicknames...names....

I noted how my boys call my mom Meme...its how I used to say my own name (Maryanne) when I was a baby and she has always called me that...they heard her calling me that, and picked up on it for her...

I used to call my brothers TiTi (Mickey) and ToTo (Tony)...I still call Mic TiTi or T sometimes, but never call Tony anything other than Tony (or Anthony when I am angry with him)...they always call me either Mare or BabyAnne, have since I was a baby...when ...

  4. I cant believe I am saying this but...I am bored and miss the boys..

    by , 08-27-2008 at 08:06 AM
The last week has been tough with the kids, they have been at each other, and we have all had it...it was defintely time to get back to school and routines....but now, I am lonely and miss them. I am not one of those moms who cries on the 1st day of school as I see it all as a rite of passage...i just miss having someone here with me I guess. I thought I would love some uninterrupted computer time, or reading or nap time, but I dont...I miss the interruptions, the arguing, the "can I have ...

  5. Productive day... :)

    by , 08-26-2008 at 11:45 AM
I am sooo happy. It looks like that 3rd trimester energy burst/nesting thing is kicking in. Between yesterday and today, I cleaned out the telephone cabinet (a catch all), my glass hutch (put all the wine glasses in the liquor cabinet downstairs, cleared off one shelf for the boys school lunch stuff and one for baby formula/bottles)....at least 4 loads of laundry (though I still have two baskets to put away). I cleaned out the kitchen cupboard that had kids cups/our cups/travel mugs and water ...

  6. A/C guy was just here....

    by , 08-25-2008 at 08:23 AM
ugh...i am not getting off easy this time, I just know it...

We had a completely new system installed 10 years ago, as part of our home soundproofing package (we live about 3 miles from the airport and the city provided over $30K worth of upgrades to the house). We had never had a problem with it prior to this year.

On June 10th we had the freon filled (though the paperwork doesnt tell me how much was added). This AM the guy came and filled it with 3lbs of freon, ...

  7. Not again!!!! A/c died again!!!!

    by , 08-24-2008 at 05:44 PM
ARGH....in June, in the midst of our first official "heat wave" my central AC blew. We had the refridge guys come and it was $278 to fill the freon and another $710 to dx the leak (notice I said dx. not repair...dont know how much it would have been). We really thought it was just the freon and the fact that it hadnt been filled in 10yrs so we just paid the $278 and enjoyed the cool air.

Sat we came home and the house was hot, 79 and the AC target was 75....no cold air ...

  8. dh's surgery...

    by , 08-21-2008 at 05:04 PM
Well, we knew he would have a rough day as he does poorly with anethesia (sp) but we didnt expect this bad. They gave him an antiemetic in the anethesia and it made him sleep more and harder to wake up after surgery. He was out of surgery at 1115 and didnt wake til 130 when they brought me to try to rouse him. He slept on and off from then until 4pm. He was nauseous the whole time, vomited, and had poor color. When i put him in the car at the valet door, from there to the street was maybe 20 ...

  10. Back from the beach already....

    by , 08-20-2008 at 11:42 AM
well, we got there about 945 and it was actually chilly...the water was freezing. But all the boys had a great time. Andrew and M (same age) played in the water, and Luke and J (same age) played in the sand. Though it was early, there is something about that salt air that makes them hungry. They all had 2 big pizza strips, chips, crackers, grapes, watermelon and 2 juice boxes each...good thing we packed a lot of food! ...the boys dug each other in the sand and played really well.
