So dh's company is trying to trim expenses rather than lay off any one else...They have already taken a 5% pay cut, with another 5-10% coming...the partners have taken a 10% cut already. They were going to furlough everyone (unpaid closure) for two weeks but they cancelled that (Thank Goodness!)...

They have ceased all bonuses, expenses (about $200 a month for us), 401K and profit sharing contributions, and now...they have cancelled parking passes! I know that sounds minor, but dh works in the city, where there is no street parking, and garages are at least $300-400 a month (passes are slightly cheaper but not much). Thats $$ we dont have to spend, especially as they are cutting pay! And dh cannot take a bus to work, though that would be more convenient, as he has a number of offsite meetings, site walkthroughs, etc that come up on short notice. Carpooling would have been a thought, but the only other person from our city just left the company to work in Boston....

I know there are many worse off, and at least we have jobs right now, but for us this is a major hit...UGH...I just have to keep saying "at least he has a job" I know...

Can he do a sorta carpool? Meet 3-4 right outside the city and drive in to a garage spot that they all help pay for?? It sounds like the company is in dire straits....scary!

Kerri..yea, I have asked him to ask around and see what he can do about carpooling with some of the other guys. Its tough right now with the banks not lending money and developers not able to pay their architects, and projects drying up...
