I love it and I hate it

DH decided to make dinner for all of us tonight. He wanted to make spaghetti and meatballs. Thankfully, I talked him out of making the homemade pasta with the pasta makerReason being, he dirties EVERY pot in the kitchen and making pasta is a huge project and a HUGE, HUGE mess. We had tons of Barilla pasta in the pantry to I convinced him to use that. He did make some really good meatballs. He made enough to freeze and I can pull them out as I need to for the kids or for us. I know once the kids are about 3 or 4 years old it'll be so much fun to make the homemade pasta together!!!
I love when he cooks because it always tastes really good but I hate it because he makes such gigantic mess that I'm left with cleaning up. I left the dishes soaking in the sink tonight b/c they were so yucky. We have a tiny dishwasher so I'll have to run it later in order to fit the rest of the dishes from the sink.
I shouldn't complain, at least he had fun making it and the kids loved every bite which makes him a proud Daddy. We were finishing up dinner and he said since they ate so well tonight, lets take them for their first ice cream coneI was all for that! That meant ice cream for us too...LOL We packed them in the car and went to Rita's down the street. I asked for 2 kiddie cones w/ vanilla ice cream. Good Lord they were HUGE cones! We sat down on the benches outside and tried to get them to lick it or even hold the cone. N&N wanted nothing to do with the cone
They didn't even want the ice cream. Nicholas would stick his finger in the ice cream and then fling it. Noelle tried a tiny bit but then kept turning her head from it when DH offered it to her. So, we tried but failed with their first ice cream cone. Soon enough and they'll LOVE to go get one. By then I'll know exactly what flavor they like. I just chose vanilla because I thought that would be a good first flavor. They have had it before but only a little off of my spoon or something like that.
All in all, it was a fun time. Glad we did it and I'm happy that they really enjoyed the spaghetti & meatballs. We have some leftovers which is great for another dinner this week. I guess I'll just finish the dishes in the morning instead of tackling all the stuck on mess that's everywhere.
