In this journey of ups and downs, today is a definite peak!

The great news was unexpected. Had the 3-day embryo transfer today at 12:30pm. Here's a brief recap of where we are at this point as we start the two week wait period:

On Monday, DH had TESA surgery and I had my Egg Retrieval.

1. 7 follicles were mature at the 19mm stage
2. 6 eggs were retrieved
3. 5 eggs fertilized
4. 4 were implanted today at 12:30pm

Well, we keep the faith and keep trecking along in this journey of hope.

Today, we triggered with Ovidrel at 7:50pm. And the countdown is off!

We tried a different protocol this time around given our low response to the prior IVF cycles.

Seems like it responding better than the last ones. The E2 (Estriol in the blood) this morning was 1620. Which made the RE very happy.

The good news is that we have 7 solid follicles that have responded ...

Well, after our sad negative cycle number 2 failed (follicles responded very poorly to stimulations and didnt grow at required levels), we are at it again.

We started cycle #3 on April 18th with the required birth control pills and started injections of menopur and follistim on May 7th. The follicles grew nicely and at a rate. Then on May 14th I added Ganirelix injections to the cycle every night until May 19th.

Dosage of Meds taken:

Well, things didnt go as well as they had started.

The doc stopped the cycle at the end of week one because the stims were not responding to growing the follicles.

Interestingly this same cocktail worked the first time around. Among the many potential reasons: age. We waited too long between cycles (2 yrs). And at 39, time is critical.

The meds only grew the follicles to 5 and 7 when they should have measured 14 at the end of week two.

Well folks, we are at it again. Our continued journey embarks once more as we try to be blessed as potential parents.

We had a failed IVF cycle in 2009 which did not survive the 2 ww period. While we should have started right away with another try, the emotional burnout was too much for us. We had to take a break and recalibrate and re-energize.

Too bad our clock is a ticking! But we shall continue to have faith.

Our candle is still burning bright and we are glad we embarked on this rocky journey.

It is said that when one wants something bad enough, all one has to do is wish it, envision it, and the universe will conspire to make it happen.

We have the faith that God has other plans for us now, but will continue to pray for all of the special people that have shared in their journey and root them to their goals and dreams. We will keep that candle burning.

Well, today was our first day to get blood work done after the ET.

Good & Bad News.

BAD - Since 7 embryos were fertilized; 4 of them transfered, and 3 were being monitored for potential freezing pending growth and quality. They didn't make it. So now we do not have any embryos to freeze.

GOOD - The current 4 embryos transfered are growing well. Continuing to take the meds (progesterone v-insert tablets 3x daily). Not feeling any symptoms.

Well, while we may not be the first or the last couple to go through IVF, this has been an emotional rollercoaster for us.

We have been trying for 2 yrs to get pregnant to no avail. Turns out IVF and TESE were our only hopes to conceive a biological child.

So we have an Army of friends and family praying for us. While we remain optimistic, we have to be real our our chances and success rate.
