My mom dropped a bomb on my Friday when she casually mentioned over the phone that her wart wasn't so much a wart. She's been tormented by what she assumed was a common but stubborn wart on her hand. Yesterday she went in for surgery to take it off, only the doctor said it was not so much wart as it was cancer.

The good part, I think, is that it is not a melanoma. So what IS it? The word bumping around my head is squamous cells, but that could so easily be wrong. ...

Well, she took the gastro-graphing enema thing like a champ. I was so nervous and anxious about it, you'd think it was ME who was getting one. SO freaked for her!! She didn't cry, complain or freak on any level. She just lay there clamping onto my hand with these eyes the size of soup plates and the occasional tear rolling down her cheeks..... In a way, that was worse -- ya know ...

Where do I begin with this child? Lord love a duck but she's had some stumbles lately. Literally, actually. (She fell down the stairs at Donor Mom No 1's cabin while we were in Maine See photo above) My teeny beany -- 3 lbs at birth, no physical problems at delivery Just turned four and for the first time we are seeing signs of developmental delay -- in ways I never expected. We've been back from our Maine vacation for a week and I can't seem to get myself back into gear. It's 9:30 and I'm still sitting here in my gigantic t-shirt that i wear for a nightgown writing in my blog. Not that I have been very attentive to my blog. The last time i last wrote was ... what? Maine was amazing, just astounding. What a time we had! The ladies were just lovely, and at least one of our spouses was delightful -- not so much mine. In his defense... ...

I've been meaning to write about this for weeks now. I've been ticking off the weeks and now days and suddenly THE day is upon me....

Our original donors are coming to town and we will meet them to go to Disneyland. My folks and their closest friends are coming also. I am happy and excited, but i think i have an equal amount of terror in there over this meeting. Mind you, this woman is an AMAZING woman.... the co-creator of a website that matches donated embryos ...

Harrowing: I had a scary accident yesterday. One that left me gasping and shivering from top to bottom. I was out yesterday jogging/walking with the girls in the jogging stroller. have i mentioned that i (i give up on the shift key today, my left hand is splinted and i have to slowly type out the keys/words that it has to hit) live in a mountainous area with lots of steep hills?

part of this was my big bad misjudgment and mistake, part yucky misfortune. i had waited what seemed forever ...
