  1. Dunkin' Donuts Butternut Munchkins

    by , 03-26-2008 at 10:17 AM
The last time my mom came out (a month ago, to help with the kids during my CLC course) she brought me Butternut munchkins. You see, even though we FINALLY have Dunkin Donuts here in Vegas, they for some reason refuse to start making Butternut donuts or Butternut munchkins. Clearly, they do not know how amazing they are!!! Grrrrr. So I still have to import them from Maine.

Anyway, I put three of them in a snack-sized Ziploc and put them in the freezer for a future treat, or in ...

  2. Grumpy boys!!!

    by , 03-26-2008 at 10:06 AM
T woke up on the wrong side of the crib this morning! He was a major grump. And it was EARLY - about 6:15 - usually he goes back to sleep, but he wouldn't this morning. I just got him back down for his morning nap.

J woke up in a funk, too. He was upset that it was light outside, and wanted me to turn the sun off. He's better now, though. He's making a Hot Wheels Cake - He's arranged all of his cars into a cake shape!

My DD shirt arrived from 80stees.com ...

    by , 03-25-2008 at 09:47 AM
I am officially a Certified Lactation Counselor!!! I'm so excited! I got a little certificate and everything. My friend M, who was in the course with me, and I are going to go out and celebrate on Friday with some beers! Yippee! I have some calls to make today. I hope I can start something soon - either volunteering or observing some consults. I hope to transition into this new career by the middle of next year. . .

Next stop, the ILCA conference in July. I'm so ...

  4. My ebay auctions

    by , 03-22-2008 at 09:42 AM
They're doing better than I expected this week. I have four items up. A BabyHawk, a MayaWrap, a scanner (like, the police scanner things) and a collectible Ice Capades plate. (don't ask) With 4 days left, the total is up to about $150 for all of the items. There are 25 people watching the BabyHawk!

I'm trying to make $600 in the next few weeks so I can register for the ILCA conference by May 15 to get the early bird fee. I'm so excited that they're having it here in Las Vegas. ...

  5. Easter Bunny Cake

    by , 03-22-2008 at 09:37 AM
I'm making an Easter Bunny cake today. The same cake my mom used to make when we were kids. I did it a few years ago and it was really cute. I have the cakes (2 rounds) in the oven right now - I used Lemon cake mix - the only one I had in the pantry! I have to go out and get frosting and some stuff to decorate with (eyes, nose, mouth, etc.) What fun!!!

We're going to dye our eggs this morning too. All this before I go in to work!

T slept pretty well last night. ...

  6. In my Pedi's office

    by , 03-22-2008 at 12:12 AM
He has cans and cans of formula stacked on shelves behind the nurse's station. I wish he would cover it up. I've been studying the WHO Code for the Marketing of Breast milk substitutes this week, and other issues involving the politics of breastfeeding. By having all of that formula so visible to his patients (mostly new parents) he is silently endorsing it. I'm not saying he shouldn't have it to give to formula feeding parents who genuinely need it. I'm saying it should be in cupboards. ...

  7. Easter (Bunny ment.)

    by , 03-22-2008 at 12:06 AM
We are not religious. Not even in the least. I grew up without religion and personally, I'm happy about that. I kind of get the idea of what Easter is about (please don't feel the need to explain it to me). Sometimes I ask religious questions of people I work with, just because I enjoy learning about the different stories and customs of different religions. I work with a lot of Mormons and they are forever answering my inane questions. I love Mormons. I think that is a fascinating religion. ...

  8. Trying to get a urine sample from a baby is. . .

    by , 03-21-2008 at 11:56 PM
. . . nearly impossible. Seriously. I've tried FOUR times since our Pedi Uro appt. last week. It's a nightmare. I called the nurse and she said I could bring T by the office some afternoon and we could try it there. Those little tiny baggie things seem like a good idea, but when you're trying to catch pee from a wriggly almost 11 month old, well, that's just not easy!

At any rate, he is back on prophylactic antibiotics (macrodantin) for now. The uro was adamant about it. I ...

  9. u/s this morning. . .

No, not for me! For the baby. The urologist wants to check the state of his kidney reflux. We have the follow up appt. in the uro's office on Saturday (how cool is it that she has Saturday appointments?)

  10. the sleeping issue is out of control!

    by , 03-05-2008 at 08:15 AM
Last night I was in bed from about 12:45am - 2am, and then from about 4:30am - 6am. The rest of the time I was in some part of trying to get DS to sleep in his crib. At one point, DH had to get up and got him to sleep (this was at 4:30am). I am beyond exhausted. It's been like this for a few weeks now.

One theory is that he's not getting enough breastmilk when I'm away from him. I just found out that oftentimes DH won't give him a bottle when he's home with him, so he'll go ...
