Hi, I am 35 and i have been diagnosed with endometriosis and been on myomectomy twice already. Sept 2011 i went for IUI but failed so my husband and i jumped into ivf. last thursday 9 August 2012 i have ER and since this is my first ivf i am lost with what the next thing to do and to expect. we waited for the phone call saying that the embryo is ready to be transferred until after day 5 a call from the hospital came with bad news. My eggs did not fertilize and that there is no need to make any transfer. It was so devastating. my husband and i are considering to try again but not in the next couple of months, he thinks that i should give my body a rest considering that i've gone thru myomectomy on both ovaries on april and did ivf on august. I have gone thru so many medicine and shots that i also feel that my body needs a break.

I would love any advice regarding my next cycle of ivf, what should i do with my fertility and to have better chance maybe on my next uvf?

i appreciate it alot. thanks..

    Hi Carol,

I'm so sorry. That is such devastating news to receive. The good news is that your body is usually primed and ready to go immediately following a cycle. This might mean you should go ahead and not take a break, but of course I encourage you to do whatever feels best mentally, physically, and emotionally! It can take up to 3 or 4 IVF cycles to see success. After that, your doctor might tell you to consider moving on to the next treatment option. However, if you are open to a second opinion, that might be valuable as well. I see you are not located in the US, but I can consult my team of experts to see if we know and recommend any fertility specialists in your area. Perhaps near Dubai? Wishing you well!

Hi Carol, I had the same experience with my second cycle - 0 fertilisations. However, just 2 months beforehand I had a cycle with 8 eggs retrieved, 7 mature and 6 fertilised. So hopefully your doctor can adjust your protocol for a better response next time. It can and does happen! All the best.
