Yesterday we had G's second NEP (same as an IEP...think that's what you guys call it ). Anyway some of the things we were focussing on last semester she has achieved

Her social skills are EXCELLENT, she is joining in with the other children and playing really nicely. This one made me smile...a lot....apparently for group time, she is chosen as much as the other children as a partner or to take a turn etc...and she chooses children all by herself too. She is being accepted So happy about that.

Her behaviour is also fantastic and she is totally age appropriate with all activities...of course sometimes she gets a bit stubborn, but that's also a good thing, can't have her complying ALL the time

This semester we are focusing on her vocal skills (her receptive speech is really good, just need the vocal to catch up), her gross motor skills, she is still not great with stairs, bikes etc. The kindy is also doing more and more signing and some of the Mums actually asked me to buy the key-signing book for them.

We also had a rep from the Down Syndrome Society attend and she was blown away with how well G is doing.

All in all it was an awesome meeting. My little girl is being accepted and even has friends and above all is really happy. What more could a Mummybear ask for :D

I've been a slack blogger lately. Life is just too busy but I wanted to make sure that I blogged about my big boy. Although he can be a "typical" almost 15 year old, he is a good kid for the most part.

Anyway onto the news. He got a(nother) great report for the end of Term 1 on Year 9. 4 As and 4 Bs, but the comments were just awesome, I wouldn't have cared if they were all Ds with the comments. Just wonderful :D

Now to the BIG news on H...

Every year at Harry's school they produce a musical of some description. The last couple of years it's been small because of building works and the hall being needed for other things etc etc. So this year the hall is available again for the big production and they have decided to do "Annie Get Your Gun". Harry decided he was going to audition for some of the leading roles despite only being in Year 9. And of course me being the stage Mother that I am (not)...I was like...sure Harry, whatever. So to cut a long story short, the bottom line is he got the lead role of "Frank Butler".....because he is only 14 and a Year 9 student they have decided to share the role with another boy who is in Year 10, which means Harry will play the lead every second night.

We are so proud of him...can't believe I have a child that can sing though

Anyway here he is at Easter....I can't believe how grown up he is these days :yikes: Where oh where has the time gone? Bittersweet.

Some positive toilet news.

I am getting beyond frustrated with the toilet training. We started again just after Christmas...straight to knickers, no pull-ups.

I am getting beyond frustrated with the toilet training. We started again just after Christmas...straight to knickers, no pull-ups. She understands everything, has all the signs plus more. Not many accidents at all, however, nothing on the toilet either. Only time was in the pull-up at nap-time or the nappy at night. Let me say this girly has the bladder the size of China

Anyway I've been speaking with her OT and she has been speaking with other OTs and everyone has said not to give up and it's just patience (not one of my strong virtues ;) ). So tonight after dinner I popped her on the toilet again and blew a bazillion bubbles and eureka...we have a waterfall :dancing:

DH and I ran around like head-less chooks....so happy. It's a start. Such a long process with a SN child, but hopefully this is another step in the right direction.

Anyway I'm pretty tired doing the single Mum gig with an extra toddler....but the adrenalin of a new bubba in the family soon is keeping me going.
Also only have to lose 10kgs (22lbs) to get to goal :dancing: However, I think I'll make it 12kgs....because if I only lose 10, I'll be right at the top of my healthy weight range for my height...and I really am not "big-boned". So 12 it is :D

I walked for an hour tonight...so needed to, I know that I have put on weight over the holidays and it's just depressing me. I had fun doing it though ;)
Anyway...back to bootcamp again, I am dreading weigh in on Tuesday :yikes:

Also took the kids out to the park today and we walked there, only 15-20 minutes walk but walking anyway. Had a lovely lunch at a local trendy lunch place. So anyway the lady who is the owner (L) is just gorgeous, she has a little boy 2 months younger than G (actually his birthday is February 29th, so technically he hasn't even turned one yet  ). Anyway he is going to be going to the same kindy as G and I was telling her about some of the issues I've had with some of the clique group. L told me that she knows heaps of new children starting (which there will be-around 50) and lots of the Mums are really great. I can't wait...because L is such a sweetie and very creative and arty...not stuck up and boring...like "the clique" ;) Much more my type of person, I really can't stand fake people and there are a few of them there!! Hopefully it will improve my experience this year. I'm not worried about the children, they have all been wonderful with G...just the stupid stuck-up Mothers!!!

DH is back to work tomorrow so that's going to be hard cause I'll miss him, however M&D are taking G for the day so it will just little DS and me. I'm heading to PP and Cotton-on for some retail therapy.

Both DH and I did really well with our studies and financially we managed to consolidate and be more comfortable after what had been a few hard years...still need to consolidate further ;)

I managed to lose over 30lbs...big highlight for me!! Now am the lightest I have been since meeting DH over 10 years ago.

My Nanna passed away this year...that was the worst thing by a long way  But she had a good long life and just wanted to be with my Pop, so in the end she was where she wanted to be...still not easy for us.

I was blessed with a gorgeous new nephew in August, who is the sweetest little man, and I love him dearly...another big highlight.

My BIL and SIL moved back from the US...that's been fantastic too.

All in all a good year.

Love and miss you Nanna :smileyh:

That's it. I figured that I was pretty happy with me last year, despite not sticking to my NYRs. I did however achieve really good results in Uni and the thing I'm most proud of is that I love 17kgs :D Hopefully I can continue to lose more weight...I'd like to lose another 12-15kgs...then I'd be hot ;)

I realised I haven't blogged in over a week. Well it has been pretty busy around here ;)

We had something on every night leading up to Christmas, we went to the Brewery lights on Thursday before Christmas with our friends J&C. We had dinner first, it was great and the kids were all really good. They also have a little girl with Ds, she is 10 months younger than G, also a little boy who is 6 months younger than E....so dinner could have gotten ugly fast

They were tired and cranky by the time we arrived home...G was such a pain. Of course the next morning she had more fluid coming out of her ear! More antibiotics drops, she seems fine again. Off to the ENT on Friday 4th, so hopefully we can get it all sorted then.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Of course G's birthday was Saturday, already blogged about that :)

------------------------------------------------------------------

Christmas Eve was lovely, we went to BIL & SIL's for dinner, kids had a great time and it was good to be able to spend some Christmas time with DH's family, first time ever in the 10 years we have been together that I have spent time with his family at Christmas. His parents were supposed to come down for Christmas this year but they pulled the plug in October  Anyway long boring story ;)

G, E and A Christmas Eve

------------------------------------------------------------------

Christmas Day was awesome, we opened our presents here at home and then headed over to my sister's house at 10.30am, where the children exchanged pressies. There ended up being 14 adults and 7 children, it was fun. It was warm and the kids had fun playing in the paddling pool after lunch. We didn't get home until 8.30pm....G fell asleep in the care and stayed asleep until 8 the next morning....that's a sign of a good party ;)

My babies and me with their pressies :yikes: Just realised that I have no make-up on...very rare pic of me not "done-up" ;)

Christmas Day with their cousins

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Today is New Year's Eve...we are having a party, just a small one, 12 adults and 11 kids. It's absolutely BOILING HOT here...so I think we will have the paddle pool out for the kids...and maybe the adults ;) Times like this I wish we had a swimming pool!!

We have already done all the cooking, just have to buy the ice and tidy the house a little. Looking forward to having a nice kick-back type of night :)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Side note about Christmas pressies! I got an iPod shuffle and finally got around to working out how to use it last night...can I say I'm totally addicted and in love :smileyh: Didn't think I'd love this much, I knew I'd like it but it's just awesome. Sheez, I sound like a teenager :rotflmao:

Anyway, I made an Dora cup-cake stack thingy with my cup-cake stand...they were white-chocolate chip with pink sugar icing...and yummy!

Gracie had fun with her cousins and was in a much better mood today. Poor little thing, her ear was all gunky again this morning, so I think that is why she has been so miserable :(

Anyway...here's a couple of pics, they are not fabulous, we were too busy having fun to take too many pictures...now of course there are no good ones. Never mind she had fun.

Anxiously awaiting the cake ;)
Kids Who Are Different

Here's to the kids who are different,
The kids who don't always get A's,
The kids who have ears twice the size of their peers,
And noses that go on for days...
Here's to the kids who are different,
The kids they call crazy or dumb,
The kids who don't fit, with the guts and the grit,
Who dance to a different drum...
Here's to the kids who are different,
The kids with the mischievous streak,
For when they have grown, as history's shown,
It's their difference that makes them unique.

We received H's final report for the year. We are really happy again, he does so well, especially for a kid who is "average". 3 As and 5 Bs, but it's the comments that make the report, fantastic!!! He had a great year in spite of the middle of the year dramas with his operation. Next year he will be in Year 9 :yikes: OMG that looks worse when it's typed out too!!!!!

He also received the Music prize this term, so well done H :D

He has decided to retire from the Australian Youth Choir and concentrate on school music and he wants to start private singing lessons  Man...does he not know this goes completely against my Anti-stage Mother stance!!! Anyway I guess at 14.5 he can make some of these decisions now...it's so hard for me, because I really don't like hearing about people pushing their kids into doing these type of things, yet my kid is the one pushing me!!! All my RL friends think I'm a nut-case

----------------------------

Little DS has been so sweet lately, the melt-downs are less and less, I know that can change in a second though :yikes: He is starting to talk more and more and I love the way he says thank you "tang do" It's adorable.

----------------------------

As for the Princess...oh my!!!!!!!!! She is pushing my buttons so much lately, feel like I am banging my head against a big fat brick wall :banghead: Yep, just like that!! Not sure what's going on with her but her attitude really bites at the moment. I'm not looking forward to her teenage years, fortunately they are a long way in the future!!! We are starting potty training boot-camp after Christmas, we really have to get this potty-training sorted, it's driving me INSANE!!! (Well more insane ;) ) We are thinking of starting little DS too, but I'm not convinced it will work, but we will try anyway, no pressure for him

-------------------------------

We are away in the next few days, so I'll blog about that when we get home...let me just say, not looking forward to it!!!!!

Also my Princess turns 4 on Saturday, where did the time go???

Off to pack...wish me luck!!
