That last addition to this blog was was long, and apparently exhausting, because I have not added another in a long time! In this post, we finish out April (and IUI #2) and start May (and IUI #3 with injectibles).
4.27.05
I have only used clomid (last month), and had a good response (4 follies) with little side effects. For this cycle, I started clomid again last night, and am experiencing side effects (heightenend emotions and now nausea and headaches). If this continues, I will ask about injectibles for next month.
05.01.05
I took my last dose of clomid last night and it could not have come too soon. I have been poppin' advil because of the headaches (luckily no more recurrences of the nausea). I would like to try injectibles next month, and the nurse coord has mentioned repronex in the past.

I will ask about the gonal f and see if that is an option along with repronex. I guess each doc does their own thing and through trial and error decides on which meds work best. I completely trust the clinic staff, so I will discuss it with them when we are down there. I have an u/s and b/w on weds (CD11) and I should know better when the IUI will be. Hopefully, I have good size and numbers of follies. Dh asked a couple of times when it will be because he needs to know what to tell his supv, and I told him I just dont know. We may have to leave Thurs, Friday or Sat (we go to SoCal for our IUIs). So that is frustrating for him but he knows it is worth it in the end!

I went for my cd11 u/s today. I had a 20mm on one side and a 21mm on the other. I also had a 17 and some smaller ones. My endo lining was a bit thin at 6.2, but the nurse said my estrogen was good (475), so she is not worried. I wonder if clomid caused this thining in addition to the headaches. Anyway, I trigger tomorrow night and have th IUI on Saturday.

We're leaving this morning for SoCal for the IUI on Sat. My dh worked late last night (until midnight), so I joined him there in time for the 8pm trigger shot (we used a back cublicle and being after hours, it was very quiet there. Still one coworker and a cleaning guy were there, so we got out of sight)!
Since our hotel was awful last time, we decided on a Best Western in a nicer area. It said it had been recently renovated, so hopefully the mattress will be good for my bad back. All traveling all day, I need a good bed! Then we stay with relatives on Sat and see the family for Mother's Day (including new baby second cousin). So, the timing worked out really well.
05.09.05
We're back from our IUI/Mother's Day trip. We got in very late last night to rain! But everything went well and it was great seeing the family. Now we wait...tick tock ...

Speed, My E2 was 475 on CD11 when I had the folowing follies (21, 20, 17, 10, 9). She said that was a good number and even though I had thin lining (6.2), it was ok. On CD14 when I had the IUI, my lining was up to 10.+ ... so it may just be ok!
[I suspect this lining was not this thick since there was nothing other than my natural cycle to thicken it up in like two days - I think they told me this and it got my hopes up unnecessarily. The think lining would become a BIG ISSUE when I later was forced to go back on clomid.]

I'm feeling some tightness today 7dpiui. I'm also watching, "In the Womb" on the National Geo Channel. It is a fascinating look at the 9mo gestational period with live shots and animation. I am recording it and will show it to dh if an when. I'm also reading Brooke Shields book this weekend. The first part is about her struggle with IF and the rest is about her post partum dep. It's a good read.

We had fun this weekend. We went to a salvage yard and found a cool seafoam green sink and toliet for our half bath. The sink is new although it was made in 1988, the toilet needs some cleaning and a new seat, but otherwise is in good shape. We're going to paint the cabinets in that room green and white, so it should be cool and kinda retro in feel. And since we were out most of the day, it was a great distraction from the 2ww.

AF came today dammit. So, the planning started for the next cycle. The pharmacy 3000 miles away is sending repronex and all my other meds tomorrow. I start them on Friday if the baseline u/s is ok. I really hope that insurance will cover at least some of it because it's at least $800. Also, the new med will work quicker so that did not match our travel plans and other appts we had in SCal. So, now we will be down there for a week instead of just a couple of days. We are going to make the best of it and show my dh (who is not a Cal native) some of the sites down there. Glass is half full; glass is half full. I'm going to go do some stretching and pilates to work off some stress.
Later that eve: I'm felt better after some stretching and relaxation. Then tonight I was in the pool and so that always makes me feel good.
05.19.95 {No time to deal with the disappointment of not getting pregnant around Mother's Day as we are already into another cycle}
I get to inject the repronex subcu for 5-9 days (starting on CD3). At day 5 of it, they do u/s and b/w to see if I need an adjustment in my dose. It speeds things up and that is why I will (hopefully) have the IUI sooner than planned. Happy Memorial Day to us! It's wreaking havoc with our plans, but we will adjust and make the most of it. The good news is less side effects. The so-so news is double the chance of twins (13%) from clomid (6%). I would love twins, but whether my back can take it is another story! Actually, just one healthy girl will work for me!
It's obvious that I cannot control the timing of when this is going to happen, so I will just stick to the regimen, and see what transpires this mo. Obviously, this is a learning experience that I need --> Patience + Peace = Possibillity of Promise. Like my alliteration? What the heck - it's early for me!
05.20.05
I had my u/s yesterday and no cysts (yea!), just some follies waiting to be stimmed. That will start Sat eve when I start inj. All the meds arrived in the mail today and the pharmacy even included an ice pack, alcohol wipes, and a red containers for the needles (non of which I have rec'd before when just doing the trigger and clomid). The good news is insurance covered most of it and I only have co-pays. I am so glad we decided to swtich to the PPO as the pharm coverage is so much better - no pre-auth or anything.
I also will be on prog supp, so I guess I can expect some messiness and (.)(.) soreness. But if it keeps the lining thick and maybe af from coming early again, it is worth it!
05.23.05
The injs are great - did the first one tonight and had to sneak off since we had a guest for dinner. I got everything ready and did it in 4 mins (2 vials no less)! I have had no side effects and don't expect any from the repronex. Well, some tightness below the belt, but that is to be expected when growing several large follies. I have am u/s Weds morning, so we'll see where we go from there.
