Starting back up...

Posted 02-16-2010 at 01:55 PM by BC-foogball

Well, I got overloaded during the holidays, but now I'm back to sewing. I have about 15 dresses that I am planning on making for dd before May...we'll see if I finish.

But wanted to document them here! Keep me on my toes and keep me from slacking off

First one finished:

Ummm...bad timing?

Posted 03-02-2009 at 04:10 PM by BC-foogball

Ugh. I am SO pumped about our shop. I can't wait til we get up and running and are writing monthly checks to fund the projects in Haiti.

but..that is if we ever get up and running! We are now faced with the possibility of shutting down! Not even a month after we opened. I have faith we won't. I have faith it will do well, it just has to start getting there soon!

We weren't nervous about starting up with so little $, we didn't need to come up with rent, and were...

Our First Day

Posted 02-06-2009 at 08:45 PM by BC-foogball

Well, our first day of the shop was fun. I'd have loved it to be busier, but we didn't put a lot into advertising...we just don't have a lot....so I can't be too picky.

But...we did get a lot of good feedback today, everything was positive, and many people grabbed a stack of flyers to pass out to people they know, some are coming back next friday with cash (we don't take cards) and bringing with a friend/sister/mother/daughter...etc to shop. A couple are going to bring in some...

Poor kiddo

Posted 02-03-2009 at 09:31 PM by BC-foogball

Cai was in bed all day with a fever, nothing else...just a fever. He was so lethargic all day, I felt sooo bad for him. Then, tonight as I'm getting him ready for bed, thinking...well, at least it's just a fever, he should be fine tomorrow, he starts crying and throws up all over our bed Poor baby!

He barely gets sick, but it feels like he was JUST sick like this...not too long ago!

Hopefully, it won't run through the house like last time!!! I really cannot fit...

Starting to look like a shop!

Posted 01-24-2009 at 02:35 PM by BC-foogball

Well, with yesterday and today, it's starting to look like a shop! Today I hung of 4 out of ..... not sure how many, maybe 14? Rods. I got the front room pretty much set. My dad returns from Haiti today, and hopefully he has gotten some decorations on his trip to spruce it up a little.

The paint was frusterating...I took the tape off today, and too much paint came with it. Crappy wood underneath . Even with all the sanding and scraping we did, it didn't hold paint well. Oh...

reviving the blog

Posted 01-15-2009 at 05:17 PM by BC-foogball

Well, I'm going to try to do this again! LOL

I'm starting a used clothing store, it'll be a non-profit, proceeds going to a Christian school in Leogone, Haiti.

It's a small house, that was converted to a store...and it's been vacant for a couple years. Well, we had the brilliant idea to paint it. LOL the walls were ok...just really rough walls. But today we were going to paint all the trim. Yeah...never picked up a brush! Instead, we spent the day sanding and...

Preschool is done for now...

Posted 09-26-2007 at 10:42 AM by BC-foogball

well, got a call from C's preschool today, again, to pick him up.

I brought him out to the car (my mom was in there) and went back in to talk to the director.

The director, music teacher and I had a great talk. We agreed that he does need to work on some coping skills with his anger and transitioning. The transitioning isn't too big of a deal to me right now because I do know that a lot of that just comes with age. BUT the anger management is a big deal to me. But...

Giving it a longer try

Posted 09-25-2007 at 06:47 AM by BC-foogball

Not sure if preschool is going to be a good choice for C or not, we'll see. I went in and had a great talk with the director. I was off on some of my assumptions, but right on on others. This teacher is very blunt and I guess I'm not the first mom who has been rubbed the wrong way with her. But she does care a lot about these kids. We chatted about her and about C and that many of the "issues" he is having are very normal for the first weeks of school and for strong personality kids....

More thoughts

Posted 09-10-2007 at 09:45 AM by BC-foogball

Ok, more thoughts on this...

Although Cai is a very strong personality child, he does listen. He is NOT a child that screams, hits, spits, bites whatever me when he does not get his way. It's just how I go about talking to him. If someone is unkind or very haughty with him, he picks up on that right away and his first defense is anger or stubborness. He will often ask me: why are you in your angry voice? or: Are you happy or angry? And usually it's only because of the tone of...

so frusterating

Posted 09-10-2007 at 09:25 AM by BC-foogball

This whole preschool thing is giving me a headache. I know my child has a strong personality when faced with strong personalities. I've always known that...he is just like his daddy that way. It's one of those great/not so great things about his personality. The great thing is the passion. The not so great is the stubborness!

Well, his teacher is the same way. So I pick him up today and he is happy as can be says he played but didn't listen very well. His teacher followed him...
