  1. Roll back

    by , 05-07-2009 at 07:44 AM
DH informed me last night that everyone's salary will be rolled back 5 percent. I think I just lost a lot of respect for his boss. I know they've been hit by the economy just like everyone else but they are not losing money. They're just trying to pad the bottom line at the expense of the employees. DH has already been hit really hard in that he's lost his bonuses that usually amounted to 50 percent of his salary. The irony is I'm more pissed off about the 5 percent. We will be okay and we ...

  3. Snow storm ... no power ... no school ...

    by , 04-06-2009 at 08:26 AM
OMG, what an about-face. Yesterday we were outside with no coats on, it was 16 degrees and beautiful. Wake up this morning to a couple inches of snow, the real wet heavy stuff. Buses got cancelled for only the second time this year. The power went out about 8:30 a.m. and we're running on our back-up generator. We installed an emergency automatic generator last fall, mostly to keep the sump pumps running, but it is kinda nice to still have a few amenities like heat, water, computer and TV. ...

  6. Documenting dd's illnesses

    by , 03-18-2009 at 11:13 AM
I figure this is as good a place as any ...

First of November, fever, vomiting for 8 days, not able to keep anything in her stomach. Family doctor diagnosed step without doing a swab. Doctor at hospital said she didn't think it was strep but definitely some type of infection, glands very swollen. She was put on antibiotics.

Two days before Christmas, she started appearing unwell, cold-like symptoms. Vomiting 5 days but on and off, was able to get some food down. ...

  7. First sleepover

    by , 03-16-2009 at 01:37 PM
It's March Break here and DD has gone for her very first real sleepover at a friend's house. She's had sleepovers at grandparents' houses and even with our good friends' dd but nothing like this. I'm okay with it. I know the parents very well and they only live a minute down the road. If for some reason dd needs to come home, it wouldn't take long for us to get to her.

  8. Clean bill of health

    by , 03-10-2009 at 02:25 PM
I had a physical last month along with bloodwork, urinalysis, ECG, thyroid u/s and mammogram. I went today for prescription refills and to get the results.
Everything is pretty normal. I have some nodules on my thyroid but nothing to worry about and it is non-functional, not surprising since I've been on thyroid meds for about 15 years. I have inherited bad cholesterol from my parents, it is what it is. I eat a pretty good diet and am not even close to being overweight. I could stand ...

  9. No Doubt

We just got tickets for their concert in June! DH and I have seen A LOT of concerts over the years but for some unknown reason we've never seen No Doubt. I hear Gwen Stefani has a ton of energy on stage and puts on a great show. An added bonus is that Bedouin Soundclash is opening and we're both huge fans!!

  10. Athlete of the Week

    by , 03-06-2009 at 10:50 AM
I just got a call from Cal's dance studio that her ballet teacher nominated her to be Athlete of the Week in an upcoming edition of the paper. I'm a little surprised as there's lots of other girls who are way more involved in dance than she is. She only takes one class of ballet and one class of jazz and she's involved in a competition ballet production of CATS. There's other little ones who practically live at the studio and who are much better dancers too. Mrs. T seems to have ...
