Services (long)

This long journey has finally ended and I am happy to say that it's over. I can finally rest and know that my Dad has been taken care of.
We had his memorial service on Thursday. The only true glitch was that their A/C wasn't working well and that they gave my Mom the wrong times.
There were so many people there to say "bye" to my Dad. It was nice to see so many friends who knew my Dad or even played softball with him. I just wish that some of his old co-workers could have known. I know that they would have been there too.
On Friday the church services were really nice. Officers from my brothers station showed up in uniform and followed my Dad's casket out of the church. It was really sweet of them to show up. It was a long procession to the cemetery. We had well over 30 cars there so they made us take the streets to the cemetery. We didn't want anyone to get lost. When we pulled up they had the ground preped and ready for my Dad. My Mom and Grandma lost it. They are crying so hard. The priest said another prayer for my Dad and then everyone got to say a final goodbye. We all laid roses on the casket, I laid a red one for me, and kissed 2 more (1 for Jacob and 1 for Dana). I told my Dad to check in on them from time to time. They need to know that you are still there for them. I was the last one to say bye. My whole family stayed and watched as he was laid to rest in the ground. DH and I had to take the priest back to the church so I missed that part. I am kind of glad that I did cause it would have just been too hard to watch.
After all the services everyone (and I mean everyone) came back to our place and grandma's for lunch. Everyone was there from 1-6. Telling stories about my Dad, eating and just laughing. It was good to see all the kids running around and just having fun. It reminded us of him. It was like a regular family get together minus 1 family memeber. WE just all have to remember that he is still here in our hearts.
