  1. IVFs 1-5 by the numbers

    by , 09-09-2011 at 11:58 AM
    IVF #1 - 5 follicles, E2 ~1300, 7eggs, 2 embryos, 1 BFN
    IVF #2 - 6 follicles, E2 ~1200, 6 eggs, 0 embryos, no transfer BFN
    IVF #3 - 8 follicles, E2 ~1700, 2 eggs, 1 embro, 1 BFN
    IVF #4 - 14 follicles, E2 ~1800, 13 eggs, 4 embryos (3 transferred), 1 BFN
    IVF #5 - 3 follicles, E2 574, 3 eggs, 1 embryo, 1 BFP!

I know when going through IVF we often get really hung up on the number of follicles and eggs retrieved, as many have probably heard that that directly ...

  2. Finally starting

    by , 07-14-2011 at 12:49 PM
So I am finally getting back to IVF. After 2 long years and 2 surgeries, I am finally getting to try what will most likely be my last IVF (at least with my own eggs). I am very excited to see if anything has changed in the 2 years especially with the surgeries (lap for endo and thyroid removal), as I know in general getting older doesn't make things better as far as fertility goes.

So I am hoping that this one works, but if it doesn't I will be satisfied that I have really given ...

  3. symptoms

    by , 06-13-2011 at 03:47 PM
Every month about a week before I expect AF I start looking for symptoms that maybe I am in fact pregnant. I mean really I start looking earlier but I know if my BBs hurt 2 days after I O its probably something else. I start wondering if the cramping in my belly is my uterus getting ready for a baby or just gas. Are my BBs just sore because I am about to get my period? Is that a cold sore, huh I know some people get them when preg? Am I constipated because I need more fiber or is it an early ...
  4. feeling conflicted

    by , 07-22-2010 at 03:33 PM
So recently I received a mass email from a friend from college who is going to have to undergo minor heart surgery. Basically long story short she has had this issue for a while but her pregnancy caused it to be worse and in order to have more kids she will have to have it fixed. I have not seen this woman in almost 5 years (since my wedding, we live on separate coasts now) and have not even had an email from her in a year and a half (and that was just here is my new contact info). Part of me ...
  5. Time off

    by , 06-10-2010 at 12:51 PM
So as I can not TTC for another 4 and a half months I need to focus on something else. I was getting a little depressed being on the fertility boards and not even being able try. I am still on them but I have scaled back a bit.

So my new thing is trying to lose weight. Ok not really new, but I am really getting on board this time. Back when I got married (5 years ago) I lost about 40 lbs counting calories and subsequently gained back 20 lbs, so now I am and trying to lose that ...

  6. Fathers Day

    by , 06-04-2010 at 06:41 AM
So now its fathers day that is approaching. We just get done getting over mothers day and not being a mother and now it is fathers day. Mothers day (MD) this year was actually not bad for me, I think because it was just me and DH, so really no celebrating. We usually do MD with DH's family, but as his parents were on vacation we skipped it (had brunch the next weekend, but by then the whole MD thing had mostly blown over).

I have known that we will be going over to DH's bothers ...

  7. Cancer vs Infertility

    by , 05-27-2010 at 08:03 AM
I recently sent an email to a friend trying to explain how much more infertility has affected my life then cancer. Granted my cancer was a very curable form, but I just think people do not realize how much infertility affects people. So here is a little run down of how each affected/affects me.

Time with cancer - 6 months
Time with infertility - 4 years and counting

Cure rate for my cancer - 90-95%
Percentage rate per IVF for conception with DOR for ...

  8. Cancer Free!

    by , 05-19-2010 at 07:59 AM
So I met with my regular endocrinologist this week and I am officially cancer free. I feel like I should be more excited, but I never felt that the outcome would be anything but this (but then again I also thought the biopsy would show that I didn't have cancer in the first place), I guess I am an optimist. I will have to have monitoring for probably the rest of my life, as thyroid cancer does have a fairly high reoccurance rate, but for now I am "cured". So now I have just over 5 more ...

  9. Happy for you

    by , 05-10-2010 at 02:38 PM
This is what we say to people when we find out they are preg. We say it in real life and on the boards, and it truly means that, I am happy for you. But at the same time it is bittersweet for those of us left behind. For the ones that have been trying a long time it in some ways gives me hope that maybe I will be able to get preg too. For the ones that never needed to really try or go through IF treatments I am happy that they will never know the pain/sorrow IF causes. I don't wish anyone ...

  10. cancer all done and old friends

    by , 05-07-2010 at 07:13 AM
So I had my radioactive iodine treatment last week which went well, had some real mild quesiness the day after my dose but it went away after I ate. So all in all it was pretty easy. My scans this week showed that the cancer had not spread (there was nothing to indicate that it had but its nice to get some confirmation on it), so yay. Hopefully this will be the end of any more treatments, I will have to be monitored with bloodwork and thyroid ultrasounds but I can handle that. So now its just ...
