Anyone have to sit out 2 cycles in a row?
Hi! I did my first IUI w/follistim cycle at the end of May. I had to sit June out due to large ovaries and cysts. I went today thinking I would be able to start my 2nd cycle but there was still one large cysts so I have to sit this month out AGAIN. To say I am upset is an understatement. Has anyone had to sit out 2 cycles back to back? If so, did you get pregnant from any of the IUI cycles or did you have to move onto IVF? I am so frustrated because 3 months of IUI with injectable is going to take us 8 months. I am 35 and feel like I am running out of time. They mention putting me on the pill this month but I don't want to. I know they said it will shrink the cysts but I at least want to be able to try this month even if there is only a 3% chance it would work on our own. Any advice?

Hi! I'm very sorry you have to be on a break. IMHO I would recommend you take the bc pills to shrink the cyst, because I think the cyst would mess up your cycle anyway. I think you shouldn't risk going next month and still having the cyst, then you would lose another month...
here is some info i found at the web: http://women.webmd.com/tc/functional...topic-overview Hope u can ttc again soon... 's

When I was TTC#1 I had that problem every cycle - I understand your frustration at having 3 cycles take 8 months! While "normal" people get 12 chances a year I had 5! Grrrrr!
It seems likely to me that the cyst this month would go away by next month (of course what do I know). But if you have this happen again I'd take the BCP just to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the responses! I spoke with the nurse and she said that the cysts and size of my ovaries went down dramatically from last month. She said she was certain the cysts would be gone next month. I asked about the BCP twice and she said that I wouldn't need to take them. If my next IUI does not work I will definitely go on BCP. I do NOT want to sit 2 months out again. This sucks!

OMG!! I just had my cycle cancelled!! Second month in a row!!!
These were suppose to be my very first cycle and I can not get out the gate in this race. Doctor has recommended I go straight to ICSI based on diagnostic results of DH and myself, but we do have similarities... June was cancelled when they found cysts in my ovaries and high estrogen despite being on the pill for 3 weeks. So, I had to get back on the pill for 3 more weeks to get them down. Doctor said stim meds would stimulate the cysts as well as the follicles and if they get big enough, that would inhibit the follicles from becoming good quality. That would increase the chances of the cycle being cancelled. I was fortunate enough to respond after the next round and begin stim meds. July was cancelled when I did not respond to the stim meds. My estrogen dropped very low (from the BCP) and then did not creep back up. I also did not have any measurable follies. Nonetheless, the doctor had already determined in June that if another round of BCP did not shrink the cysts they would just go in an suck them out. If yours had not shrunk, that might of been an option for you. Now, I am waiting for a new treatment plan from the doctor and hoping I do not have to go through delays for a third month. So... I totally understand what you are going through. |

Hey all,
I know how you all feel. I have had 2 failed IUIs and had to cancel the past two months for cysts and I was supose to get IUI this weekend and was just informed that I have too many eggs this month(SIX!!). I am so disappointed and not sure how much more I can take of this. I have been on clomid, femara and monopur injections and I am getting to a breaking point! The doctor suggested that I use some form of contraceptive and try again next month. She told me my chances on multiples are increased so I should not have unprotected sex. The nurse told me that it is up to me what I do but my chances of twins or tripletts are increased. One voice in my head is saying, I could do that... What would you guys do in my shoes?? |

Hey girls,
I feel your pain!! I'm also on a 2 month break due to a bunch of enormous cysts (all of which were FAR larger than any follicle I've ever produced - go figure!!). And I've never had a cyst before in my LIFE (that I know of) even after seven months of Clomid. One cycle of injectables, and BOOM! I go back to the RE for the first time in seven weeks tomorrow (CD 50!!) to get an update on whether any of these things have shrunk and to probably start Provera to move along AF. I too am terrified of another month of injectables leading to a failure and then TWO wasted months of waiting for cysts to dissipate. Freaking IF is torture!

Hi ladies, similar things going on here.
I sat out a cycle in june had cysts and increased estrogen, was put on lupron and menopur had first iui in july - BFN. I was supposed to have a pregnancy blood test this morning august 3rd and got my period yesterday. So now I have to wait 2 weeks until I ovulate and only then will start lupron and menopur again, basically I am looking at a 2nd IUI sometime in beginning of september and this whole month doing nothing...it's upsetting and frustrating, so I hear you girls, stay strong |

I received a BFN after my last cycle. Waited on AF, went in for US so we could get started again and the nurse saw over a dozen large cysts. They Rx BC pills. Went back on my next CD3 & there was still a large cyst left so we're currently sitting out.... Again!
The only thing worse than a BFN is having to sit out. It absolutely sucks!
