Need a Sanity Check here.......

**BABY BRIEFLY MENTIONED**

Hi Ya-ya's!!

I need a sanity check on this. The Ya-ya's are the most sane people that I know. DH refuses to give me his opinion on it. In fact, he just clamps his mouth shut when I've asked him about it....

Here's the scene:

It's 9:30p.m., you are running into Walmart after a long day of packing, travel, and taking care of baby and DH. You just need to pick up two things at Walmart, so you run in while DH and baby wait in the car. You grab your two things and look for the X-press check out.

AHHHHHH, there it is!! Twenty items or less. Cool. You get in line behind about four or five people. Everyone has just a few items, so the line should go quickly. The first three people get through just fine. Next next person in line, I'll call her "WOMAN", let's the man directly in front of you go ahead of her. It appears as though she only has one item, so it's confusing...why is she letting that guy go ahead?

Then WOMAN's friend (and the answer to your question) shows up. With a CART FULL OF ITEMS. There are about 40 items in the cart. WOMAN lets her friend go in front of her. The friend pulls out 20 items and pays for them. Then WOMAN pulls out the rest of the items and pays for them. So technically, each woman only had 20 items.

You've been standing in line all this time and you specifically picked this express lane over the other four express lanes because the people in front of you were only holding 1 or 2 items each........

QUESTIONS:
1. Was it as rude for WOMAN to hold a place in line for her friend?
2. What would you have done/said?
3. What if WOMAN was standing in one line, while the friend stood in another and whoever got to the check out fastest, is where they paid for their stuff?

After I hear from some of you, I will tell you what happened next..........(in a separate thread)

Oh gosh. This is a toughie. TECHNICALLY, I suppose they were in the right. BUT, ethically, I think they were wrong. They were seriously inconveniencing the people behind them, and that is rude. So yes, I believe it's rude, but at the same time, they didn't do anything technically wrong. They still followed rules, but it was very, very rude.

I would have made sure that at least one of them saw me look at my watch and I probably would have mumbled, "Ooooh, man!!!" And if I was seriously, seriously in a hurry, then I would have said something like, "Ladies, I'm so sorry, I have just these two things and I'm seriously late. Would you mind if I went ahead of you real quick?"

Well.....I guess in a way they could have been right however why didnt the lady standing there have the cart already and the other lady just finish up what she was looking for?

In my honest opinion they had that planned.

I would however after the man got to go and saw the cart full politely asked to go ahead as my husband and child were waiting just outside and we had to hurry home.

Can't wait to see what happened!

Just a note to clarify:

WOMAN was standing in line with NO cart. Just one item in her hands.....her friend cut into the line with the full cart.

1. Yes, absolutely it was rude, selfish and unfair.

2. My personality is such that I probably wouldn't have said anything, but I'd be fuming. Well, maybe I might have sighed really loud, LOL!

3. I hate it when people do that! I've seen husbands and wives, moms and children do that and I think it's SO RUDE! Again though, I probably wouldn't say anything.

I think they are rude!!! And I never directly confront people, but man I would have commented loudly enough that everyone heard me. Something like "Nothing like butting in line hey!"

ARG!!!!!!!!

I have seen this happen in the grocery store, and find it completely rude and inconsiderate! In fact, on one occasion, the cashier reiterated to the person that it was an *Express Line* and to move over one aisle to the regular checkout.

I would not have addressed the WOMAN and her friend, but I would have said something to the cashier so as to bring attention to this for future occurances.

Boy...I loathe rude people !

Incredibly rude, selfish and inconsiderate behaviour ! This type of thing really bugs me, whether it's people in a supermarket or cars barging into your lane of traffic (and heaven forbid there should be a thank-you for letting them in!).

Whether I would've said anything or not would have depended on my mood ... On a bad day I would probably have spoken to the person behind me in the line about how rude WOMAN & friend's actions were. On a more serene day I would've noted the behaviour and then started thinking my nice calming yoga thoughts.

Sometimes I think it's easier to let it go, coz that type of person is so self-involved and so thick-skinned anything you might do or say would be lost on them. My dh thinks otherwise, he believes you should always comment because they have to be put straight!

Did you totally lose it ?

It was totally Rude.

I would have let you go ahead of me since you only have 2 items.

Would I have said something to her? No I would not have given her the satisfaction of getting me upset.

So come on what HAPPENED? DId you knock her the F' out?
