Question Low Beta Count

Hey Everyone,
I'm totally new here; just joined- in hopes of getting some encouragement. DH and I have been TTC for over 3 years now; long story short our first round of IVF ended in a MC at 11 weeks :'( We just went through FET; and I got my first Beta Count back today. I'm 13dpo on a 5dt... and my Beta Count was #29. It just really scares me- because even though our first baby made it to 11 weeks; had a heartbeat and was good to go... the first initial count was #26. I feel like I was being a bit naive; and didn't think it'd be likely for another miscarriage... that is- until I heard the Beta number, and realized how similar it was to my first one. Though my doctors confirmed that my miscarriage was completely random; I always had a feeling- that if I had higher Beta numbers from the beginning... it would have done better. Does that make sense? I guess what I'm asking is, am I okay? I certainly don't want to dismiss this pregnancy... but, I don't want to get my hopes super high either, ya know? My second count will be on Friday; and I'm super nervous. Urgh! Thanks ahead; to any response! -Jess

Jess- Unfortunately there is just no way to know one way or another, it is something that you just have to wait out. The important thing though is not the number but the doubling time and so long as you have a good number on Friday you have every reason to believe that this baby is going to hang on. I know it is hard not compare one pregnancy to the next and that it is also hard not to dwell on your experience in the past but try and stay positive. I hope you will get a great number on Friday and it will put your mind at ease. GL!

Aw- thanks so much for the reply! Though I know there's nothing I can do- it's just so difficult; waiting to see what's going to happen. Urgh! I'll be sure to post my beta tomorrow...

Ru-I do understand how you feel. I am so anxious to get my second beta tomorrow. My first ivf I had a similar beta to what I have now and it turned out to be chemical. I will pray for both of us for doubling betas. Mine is tomorrow too. Your not alone girl. I an nervous too and will eagerly await to see your high beta number tomorrow. Trrrrryyyyy to relax. I am going to ask for my results after 3:00 so I can distract myself with work till I get the call.

You are definitely in my thoughts and prayers as well! It's so hard to not let this whole thing consume you're every thought; but it feels good knowing that I'm not alone! =) My husband and I are going to go to the cathedral and light a candle when he gets off of work. I'll certainly keep your baby in my thoughts as well!! =)

Ru-I am so very sorry for your loss. I have been there and it hurts all the way down to your spirit. After mine I had a few months of depression then a new determination. My re said that even though they can't count it for statistics it is a pregnancy. And even though it's horrific, it shows that you CAN get pregnant. I had on depth testing for thyroid and clotting problems after mine. And this time around I'm on a low dose asperin regimen. And so far so good. I will keep you in my prayers. If you want to know any specific info on the testing pm me. But Im rooting for you either way.
