Betas Doubling QUICKLY - Nervous!
DH and I conceived naturally this month. Since I have a history of 2 unexplained miscarriages in 2008 and the loss of a baby at 23 weeks due to Turner's Syndrome in early 2009, I had my betas tested.
Typically, seeing betas double quickly would make me happy, but if they double too fast I get nervous, because this is what happened with the daughter we lost to Turners Syndrome (which is a chromosomal abnormality). My betas were really high with her. My OB suspected a multiple pregnancy, but obviously that was not the case. Turner's is a complete fluke. It can happen to anyone and it is very rare. After testing, my DH and I were told we were chromosomally normal. So, here's my question. Can anyone tell me if they believe these betas to be too high for the gestational age of this baby? My first beta was drawn at 10 DPO. The number was 13. Next draw was at 12 DPO. The number was 41. My next beta was taken at 19 DPO and the number was 1556. I plugged these numbers into the calculator at www.betabase.info and it says they are doubling every 31 hours. This seems very fast and my last beta seems very high for only 19 DPO (If this helps...I was exactly 5 weeks along when my last beta was drawn). I have a sono scheduled for 9/10 (I will be 7 weeks). If someone can help with my question I would be very grateful. TIA! M.

My betas doubled quickly in the beginning too and everything was normal with both pregnancies. I don't think that 1556 at 19 dpo is off the charts.
Congratulations and best wishes!!! ETA: I am very sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how difficult that was.

Thanks for all the feeback, ladies.
I guess what they say is true...HCG number are all over the board. The most important thing is that they're doubling within a certain time frame. I just didn't want them to double TOO quickly, based on my history. I'm just a little nervous. On a semi-related topic. When did morning sickness kick in for you ladies? I can't remember... |

M/s kicked in for me at 7 weeks. I never vomited, but felt nauseous. It ended at about 10 weeks. My friend, who is due in October, did't get it until she was about 6 months! Everyone is truly different!

Crazy Betas
Hi everyone,
I don't know if anyone is reading the comments on this board still, but I, too had a quick question on betas doubling way fast. I've never been pregnant before and DH and I just did FET #1 and transferred 2 snow babies (our last two) and these are our numbers so far: Beta #1 9/22/09 12dp5dt- 477 Beta # 2 9/25/09 15dp5dt- 3,815!!! Is this indicative of anything strange?? The nurse told me she wanted to see my numbers at least double in 48-72 hours...so I was thinking about 1,000 or so...not 3,815! I'm excited- but also curious as to why they're doubling so fast. I swear, I find something new to OBSESS about all the time...any information would be great...thanks!

Congratulations, Faye! Quick doubling times could mean that your body produces hcg faster than some. It could also mean that you have twins in there!
I remember doing the same thing and figuring out what my next beta should be based on a 48 hour doubling time. The number always came in higher than I expected. And I had two single pregnancies.
