Beta of 38 on 7dp5dt...multiples?

Doctor called to say he thinks I have twins because he feels the beta is really high at 7dp5dt. It is 38. What are your thoughts?????

Everyone is different. My Beta 7dp5dt was 72 and we found out we are having twins. But I have also seen someone on here recently that had a beta of 25 at 12dpo and she is also having twins. It's really a crap shoot with the numbers!

Congratulations on your BFP!!!

Yeah...He totally got be excited. He basically called me back to give me the news because he didn't realize I was only 7dp5dt...he thought I was 10dp5dt. I guess I will just have to wait. When do I get to see the sacs?

I was think along these lines too, DENO. 38 sounds low for twins. That number is more in line with what I'd think for a singleton. I had a beta one day past where you are and it came back at 180 which I thought was twins...and it was twins but a vanishing twin. So we ended up with a singleton.

You will probably get an u/s to see how many at 6w or so. Is this your first IVF? (I ask because transferring 4 on a first time at such a young age isn't something you see often. My clinic would refuse unless you were at least 35 or had done IVF a few times and failed.)

It's so difficult to tell from a beta. My beta at 7dp5dt was 138 and I am 35 weeks pregnant with twins. Only the ultrasound will be able to confirm anything. There is a beta thread on the Multiples Board - you may want to check it out.

Best of luck!

ch. mentioned

At 10dp5dt, mine was 269 and I have identical twins (one placenta) so we thought it was a singleton as the #s were similar to what they should have been for a singleton.

I was SHOCKED to see twins with numbers as low as mine but it all made sense once we found ONE placenta secreting the HCG!!

Congrats either way and keep us posted!

Hmm...twins? I had my beta at 8dp5dt (13dpo) and panicked b/c it was only 36.4
Went back at 12dp5dt (17dpo) and it was 241.7 (more than doubled, not by too much but still)
Had my first u/s this past Fri at exactly 5w and we saw 1 sac.
We did a 5 day transfer of 4 "perfect" blasts (RE doesnt grade them).

With my son my beta at 15dpo was 224 and at 17dpo was 450 and it was just him.

Agree with others only u/s will tell.

Currently 30w pg with a singleton I guess he was just a really early implanter!
In any case, whatever the outcome - I wish you the best of luck and a happy healthy pregnancy!
