Beta doubling time slowing down ...??

HI,

This is my first post here. I have been reading and stalking for a week straight since I found this site! Thanks. My DH and I have been TTC our second child for a year now and experienced two chemical pregnancies in that time frame. I am now 4.5 weeks along and very nervous about this baby sticking.

My previous chemical's I was only a few days late for AF and my tests never got very dark. I had a beta done twice for the last one in March and the number we from 15 at 13DPO to 16.5 on 15DPO. I had AF by the evening on 17DPO.

So this time, I got a BFP very faint in the morning of 9DPO. I convinently had a fertility appointment so I had a beta done that day. I also had a digi PREGNANT later that day. My FRER tests are progressively darker.

Here are my Betas:
9DPO: 9 P4: 11
11DPO: 35 P4: 13.5 Doubling time: 22.46 hrs.
14DPO: 169 P4: 18 Doubling time: 32.5
17DPO: 487 P4: 23.52 Doubling time: 44 hrs

I have another draw on 7/28 which will be 21DPO. Do you think these numbers look ok? I know they are well within the 48-72 hours but they are slowing down. Is that ok this early? I have an US schedule for two weeks from yesterday, but I know my doc. will want to take a look once we get over 1000.

Thanks so much.

Your doubling times should get slower and slower until, at some point, they completely stop going up. I am not sure what point that is, but I know it gets there. They will stop doing betas once they see the heart beat on the sonogram.

Before you panic at your sonogram, I want to warn you that sometimes, they cannot see a heartbeat at 6 weeks. Often they can, but often they cannot. I did see one this pregnancy at 6.5 weeks, did not at 5.5 weeks I think it was. But on past pregnancies, I never saw it until 7 weeks. It can be very unnerving when you see no heartbeat to wait it out the extra week to see something.

Congratulations!

Thank you very much for responding LMKH. I appreciate it very much. Do you think the numbers are decent then?

I know that we may not see a HB. Just as long as I see something in the right spot I'll be ok! I think the U/S is scheduled right now for 6w3D.

Oh your numbers are excellent!! I have never doubled that well. And you doubled so fast in the begining. Only, what is it..70%? actually double within 72 hrs or something like that? Oddly, mine did not double this time but did double on my miscarriages. Go figure.

I just wanted to update that my 21DPO HCG was 2913 which was a doubling time of 37!! They are speeding up so proof that HCG can slow down and speed back up! Yippy.

I am so glad you posted this since I am having the same thing happen and suprisingly have a similar history.

I'm ttc #2 and had two chemicals I am now 17dpiui and my doubling times are slowing, here are my numbers:

12dpiui- 62
14dpiui- 199 (27 hr doubling time)
17dpiui- 610 (45 hr doubling time)

I'm so scared too that this is a sign this pregnancy isn't going to make it. I'm so happy to hear your beta is doubling faster again. I hope that happens for me too!!!!

Congrats!!! That is wonderful news! It is just such an amazing thing isn't it?

I wasn't going to go for another beta and just wait for u/s but clinic called today and they didn't run my TSH with my beta which they were suppose to do so I have to go back tomorrow to get my TSH done. I think I'll ask them to do the beta too while they are at it.
