Hello everyone! I'm not sure how this forum works but hoping that some1 can help me understand about HCG counts. I'm currently on my 2nd IVF but of course the 1st time did not have a good result. I've been reading over thousands of threads & forums about these IVF. I had my ET done on 7/17/09 w/3 full blast embryos. The had froze 2 embryos. On Wed 7/22, I had BW done w/a HCG of 5. Friday 7/24, my HCG went up to 18.2. I am so confused why is it so low being that my PDO was on 7/12??? Please help me understand if u been in my situation....
Thanks, Aspice

You had day 3 embryos transferred 5 days before the first test? That makes them day 8 embryos at that first test? If this is correct, I am understanding your post correctly, your numbers are great and I am shocked they took your betas so early. Most people still get zero at your point. I was still testing zero at 8 days with all of mine and getting numbers like yours at days 10 and 11.
Congratulations!!! Oh, and your numbers even doubled better than mine and I am now 34 weeks pregnant. I think things look great for you. |

Your numbers start at zero and go up. So at some point they are only a 5, or a 10, or an 18 and so on. It is the increase that matters. And even the increase can be questionable to a point. I know with this pregnancy, my first number was a 20 and then 48 hrs later, a 23. I think the first one was maybe cd11. I started as twins so it would have been lower if it had not started as twins. I am having one now, it is a boy, and I am due in less than 6 weeks.
I see only good in your numbers. Of course, even good numbers can go bad, but that is true of any pregnancy, IVF or not. But your numbers look picture perfect so far! check out the numbers on www.betabase.info Oh, if your egg retrieval was in the 12th and the transfer was the 17th, that makes it day 5 embryos. Count your pregnancy as if you conceived on the 12th. So I would call your first numbers as 10 dpo and your 2nd as 12 dpo. Your numbers are still wonderful as there was a wonderful increase. |

The betabase website is a good one! I used it with my beta numbers. Another website that I used to help track my pregnancy was http://www.ivf.ca/duedate.php You just need to put july 12, 2009 and it calculates trimisters, testing and some milestones for your baby. GL, hope to hear that the beta keeps getting higher and higher.
P.S. According to the website you should be getting your first beta on the 27th...it is Canadian though and we tend to wait a little while longer to make sure the numbers are higher. That being said I think the fact that you have your beta numbers climbing is a good sign...be cautiously optimistic!! Congrats! Last edited by melican; 07-25-2009 at 07:40 AM. Reason: left out info |

Thanks Aspice...we have our next ultrasound August 19th and the technican can give us a better guess. She said she thinks it's a girl because she didn't see an extra little piece hanging
but it could have been hiding.
