declining HCG help!!!

My inital beta on 7/8 14 dpo was 1480
then i had another drawn on 7/10 16 dpo and it was 1992
it did not double
today I had another drawn 7/13 19 dpo and it was 1947

whats happening???
My RE called me and said he wanted to repeat the hcg on Wed and do an ultrasound. He said it can be a possible ectopic, impending miscarriage or a twin implantation that is miscarrying.

To start off I had (1) 22,21,20 and 19 mm follicles
Is this pregnancy over before it really began???? Im devastated and still holding on to any hope

All of the options your doctor gave you could be the case - miscarriage, ectopic, or vanishing twin. You won't know until Wednesday.

I am sorry you are going through this and hope for a miracle for you.

Crystal

The initial beta does seem very high so I wouldn't be surprised by a twin loss. Please keep us updated.

Well,
Its over for us
Today hcg levels went down to 1901. Ultrasound did show a sac in the uterus but RE told us to prepare for miscarriage over the weekend.
We are deeply devestated

I am so sorry. That is so surprising to me when you had such a huge first beta.

I wish that was the case CrystalAZ but my levels have gone down from 1480, 1992, 1947, and 1901. I still have not had any miscarriage signs or symptoms but RE told us to prepare for it. How long could this take?

I am so sorry. Believe me, I know all about being in beta hell. I know that vanishing twins can do a number on your beta. Hang in there!!!

JuneSteve - I am so, so sorry that you have to go through this. No matter how early it happens or how prepared you think you might be, it always hits so hard. I am truly sorry and wish there was something I could do. As for how long it may take, I have had three miscarriages and it always varied. The first one, I started to spot and it continued for over a month and finally I couldn't take it anymore and demanded a d&c. The second one was at 5 weeks, so after a week when nothing happened, my dr gave me 10 days of provera and then I bled like crazy. It was all over after about two weeks. This last time I miscarried at 9 weeks and they told me it could take two weeks for it to begin, but I refused to wait and had a d&c the next day. I pray that you get this all over with quickly and with little physical pain. Be gentle with yourself, and know that my heart is with you.

update

Update: This has certaibnly been a long painful process. What was supposed to be a happy and joyous moment in my life turned out to be the worst. My hcg has slowly been declining today it was 1561 and my progesterone was 3.9. The ultrasound that last week showed a sac is now gone. I have had no spotting or cramping and I have actually felt great until this nightmare. I was holding on to just a little bit of hope for a miracle. Thats now a lost cause. I am finding myself questioning GOD as to why this is happening. Why just not start the pregnancy in the first place. My initial beta was super high and full of hope at 1480. On Wednesday it will really be over. I am opting for a D&C so I know for sure that everything is gone. Sems like this is just lingering on and on. I thought once your betas start to drop as in a miscarriage they drop by half each 48 hours? Why is this taking so long for me? Is there some lesson here for me?
