Slow rising beta and negative nurse

Hi Everyone, I'm new to this board and recently gone through our first IVF cycle, everything went well. tansferred 2 embryos at 5 days. Got a positive pregnancy test at home at day 7. Went in for my first Beta at day 11 and was 138, then second beta was at day 16 and was 189. I had third beta today 6/26/ and it was 289.
The nurse said it doesnt look good and said i can stop the medications or i can come in on Monday to do another beta.
Can anyone give me any hope or any kind or reassurance.

I would keep taking the medication and just see what happens. The numbers are rising, and that is a good sign. Plus your first beta was fairly high. As long as the numbers keep going up, there is hope! I don't know if things will turn out well, but I definately think it is way too early to give up yet.

Good luck!

Dawn

Thank you Dawn, i'm trying my hardest to put on a brave face. The nurse really upset me when she said numbers like i have do not result in a pregnancy.
I'm taking my meds until Monday and then we'll see.

I'm going in for a 4th Beta tomorrow...we'll see what happens. Most likely they will tell me to stop the meds.
Do you think i sholuld ask for a ultrasound?
Thanks guys, this boards has brought me so much help.

If the number goes up some more, I wouldn't stop the meds, even if it doesn't completely double. You could just have a slow implanter. An ultrasound probably won't do much good until you are at least 6 weeks along, and even then you might not be able to see a whole lot. I'm not sure exactly how far you are right now????

Good luck tomorrow!

Dawn

Hi Dawn,
Can I just carry one the meds even if the doctors say to stop? what kind of increase is good enough to keep on the meds?
My transfer was 6/8, we transferred 2 5 day embryos.
I have no symptoms, no cramping, or spotting, but i think thats because im on POI shots and suppositories.

I'm not really sure. Have you talked with your RE or just your nurse??

If I counted correctly, you'd be close to 6 weeks by the end of this week. For piece of mind, I think I would ask for an ultrasound before making any decisions. That way you would know for sure.

so yesterday i went in for a 4th HCG bw...and it came back to 710. The nurse said to continue to take the meds and come again on Wednesday for another blood test.
I was sure and came to the conclusion that this is it, its in thehands of God. Now i feel a little excited, but waiting for wednesday to come.

Glad to hear that the number went up. I think the waiting game is probably the hardest. Good luck!
