My HCG isn't doubling every 48 hours....

I'm new at this, so my apologies that I don't yet know all of the acronyms. I'm 39 years old, and 4 weeks into my first pregnancy, which was achieved via IUI. My 1st HCG test was 131, which the nurse said was excellent. Today (4 days later), it was only 471 (vs. quadrupling to 524). I'm doubling every 52 hours, which is in the range of 48-72 that I've seen listed as "normal", but my nurse said she's worried that something isn't right. How scared should I be?

My RE wanted to see doubling every 72 hours. Your numbers sound really good to me. My first number was 120, and my RE was very pleased with that. Your's is even higher, so I would try to not worry too much!

Good luck!

Dawn

Thanks, Smiley. I was very worried after talking to the nurse, and I'll be on pins and needles until tomorrow's test, but it's encouraging to hear of success stories in similar situations.

Miraclesigns: First, congratulations on your pregnancy! Sometimes more than one embryo will implant and then only one will continue. It is known as "vanishing twin". It is sometimes seen in IVFs. I know how nerve wracking it is. When is your next beta? Is it in a couple of days?
