Well, I went in today and I am a little confused. I went in because my lower abdomen was hurting I think from puking so much! Anyway they ran more betas and did an ultrasound. I am measuring 6 weeks 3 days, which is what I thought and we saw a baby, yolk sac and heartbeat! That was exciting. They sent us home, said we were fine, but I pulled some muscles in my stomach. They later called me at home and said that my betas came back at 33,335...well 6 days ago they were at 12000; when I questioned this they said that once they get to a certain point, they slow down...So, my question is should I be worried. i don't want to be but I can't help it! Thanks for all the information that you all give me!!

They do slow down b/c your pregnancy is initially supported alot by HCG. But as the placenta grows the pregnancy support changes over to Progesterone. Your HCG will actually peak and start lowering by the beginning of 2nd trimester. After you've passed about 5,000 or so, HCG is no longer a good indicator of pregnancy status b/c it varies so much on each pregnancy. The u/s is the best tool you have.
Here is a chart from Craig's Medical: HCG Levels during Pregnancy After Conception Week of Pregnancy: Normal HCG Levels: MIU/ML 1 5-50 (avg. 14) 2 5-50 (avg. 21) 3 5-50 (avg. 42) 4 10-425 5 19-7,340 6 1,080-56,500 7-8 7,650-229,000 9-12 25,700-288,000 13-16 13,300-254,000 17-24 4,060-165,400 25-40 3,640-117,000 The above table shows the typical ranges in hCG levels during pregnancy. *Statistically, the ranges are necessarily broad as each pregnancy cycle and hormone level is unique to the individual and extreme readings either way are possible in a very small percentage of pregnancies. However the table does clearly indicate the rapid increase in hCG hormone during the first trimester. Last edited by SpecD; 11-16-2008 at 11:03 PM. |

Efalco,
I was the same way!! I was so worried when I lost my m/s and wasn't tired anymore. But all will be ok!! It took FOREVER!!! for me to show too cuz my uterus is tilted back. I know what you're going through, it's all normal. How far along are you? I "lost" my symptoms at about 11wks. I hope this eases your mind a little. Best of luck..Amy |

Hi again Tanya, My Due date is July 8th
However my second baby was 2 weeks early I may have a June baby. The craziest is my first son bday is June23, 2nd son is June26 and then this baby if comes early will be end of June. The joke in my family is I can only get pg and stay pg in September/October. SoooooI also was spotting again last night UH! So I went into OB today and he did an u/s for us. Thank you lord there was a beautiful growing baby with a strong heartbeat. There is some blood and a small clot. most the other blood is all gone now. This little bugger seems totally oblivious to the things around him/her in there lol. So I am ok for the moment!
