What Beta Range Should I Expect At My Next Lab?

At 14 DPO my beta was 190
At 16 DPO my beta was 585

I will have another beta test at 23 DPO (a one week gap). Given my numbers, what range should I expect?

Thanks!

Thanks, Nirmiti. Can you tell me how you arrived at that number? Since my first two numbers bascially tripled in a 48 hour time period, I'm not sure how to measure where my numbers should be from one Friday to the next.

Thanks!

The 6500 number is based on you doubling every 48 hours. You should expect the doubling time to slow down as you go and even more so after you hit around 5000.

Thanks for the explaination, ladies.

I just got my labs back. My HCG (22 DPO) is.... 13,259. This is waaaay higher than what I was expecting. And, also higher than you guys estimated.

What are your thoughts on this number? I am 5 weeks, 3 days preggo.

I need to add on to my last post....

When my OB called to give me the results of my third beta, she also mentioned something else that has me spinning... First...here are my stats:

13 DPO: HCG, 190 Progesterone, 32 (OB put me on Prometrium as precaution b/c I've had two miscarriages this summer).

15 DPO: HCG, 585 Progesterone, 265 (HOLY CRAP!)

22 DPO: HCG 13,259 (My OB was expecting my number to be around 5,000 (did not test Progesterone)

So......my OB gives me the results (which are good...numbers are doubling, almost tripling). Then, she says, "Did you notice how high your progesterone was on the second lab draw?" I said, "Yes." She says, "I just want to warn you, when I see Progesterone levels that high it's usually an indication of multiples." At which point I about fell over. My doctor is usually pretty guarded, so a comment like this really floored me. I said, "But, I'm on Prometrium, wouldn't my number be abnormally high?" She said, "Even when I put women on Prometrium, I normally don't see progesterone levels jump that high."

Needless to say, my mind is now obsessed with wondering if I am pregnant with twins. I am having a sonogram on Sept. 22nd, at which point I'll be 7 weeks.

I've always thought that high HCG levels were an indicator of multiples. I had no idea that progesterone could also provide a clue. Has anyone else every heard of this? If you're taking Prometrium, is your level anywhere as high as this?

I'd really love to hear people's thoughts on this.

M.

While I can't tell you what my progesterone levels were because I never asked here is what I have about your HCG.
Your doubling time between 13DPO and 15DPO is 29.59 hours.
Your doubling time between 15DPO and 22DPO is 37.31 hours.

However, your first post showed your numbers to be 14DPO and 16DPO. While this may seem like a minor difference to you, one day can make a huge difference with Betas. So, was this a spontaneous pregnancy? Or was it with Fertility Treatments. If yes to FT, then what did you have IUI, IVF and on what dates.

However, no matter what the actual dates are, you have very fast doubling times. They are slowing down though (which is appropriate). But if this is a spontaneous pregnancy, then your dates could be even more off and it would change my view of your pregnancy.

If the dates are as close as a couple of days, I would guess that you have more than one in there. However, don't quote me on it. I could be totally wrong. But for your reference, my 20DPO was 2919 and I am expecting twins.

Good luck, I can't wait to hear your baby count from the ultrasound.

Thanks, Super A.

I'm sorry for the confusion. The correct days are 13 DPO and 15 DPO. This was a spontaneous pregnancy. My LMP was 8/5/08 and I have a 32 day cycle. DH and I BD'd on Cycle Day 17 (which is, according to my charts, my average day of ovulation).

Since this was a spontaneous pregnancy, I may be off by a day or two. But, I think I have the dates nailed down fairly well.

I'll tell you, my biggest concern right now is all the information I've recently discovered about Complete Molar Pregnancies and Partial Molar Pregancies. At this early stage, both Molar and multiple pregnancies look the same (high levels, extreme nausea, sore boob, etc...). But, a Molar pregnancy is not viable. Obviously, there is no way to tell the difference unless an U/S is performed.

So, I will wait 6 more days for my appointment and in the meantime, my mind will race.

Thanks for your input!

M.

Try not to read all the bad stuff you can find on the internet. Difficult I know, but it is going to do nothing but scare you. It is more likely that you have high betas with an extremely healthy pregnancy than anything else. I believe that you know when you O'd and have pretty accurate dating on your pregnancy so the numbers are probably only off by a day if at all. I am looking forward to hearing the results on Monday!
