Clinic Won't Do More Betas
Hey All,
I just found out that I'm pg! At 14dpo (IVF), my beta was 202. The clinic said that the next step was an U/S at 6 weeks. After reading about how everyone with + betas gets multiple tests, I pushed for another. Today's, at 16dpo was 424. But now, I'm essentially done with beta testing. So here's my question: why wouldn't my clinic want to continue monitoring the Hcg levels? It doesn't seem to be the norm. Should I be concerned that they're not being regularly tested?

Your first number was good, and it more than doubled in 48 hours, so there's no reason to do more beta tests.
I'm pretty sure this is normal practice. Some clinics won't even do a second test if the first is high enough, although that's not as common. |

Thanks, Maybe. It is, in fact, my clinic's policy to not do second betas if the first one is sufficiently high. I just begged for one. I'm still scratching my head over it though. I figured they would want to check doubling times for a couple of weeks at least.
I'm going in for an early U/S later this week. It's tough to go this long without any data after having been through IVF and getting bits and pieces of info every other day, practically. Regardless, I'm so thrilled that I've gotten this far. I never thought it would happen... |
