Newbie

Hello there,

Just thought I'd introduce myself. DH and I have been TTC for 18 months, I have an iffy dx of PCOS, (difference of Dr's opinion, I don't know what to think anymore), I'm 33, DH is 36. We've been doing IF for a few months.

Today is 14dpiui, I got a BFP. I couldn't believe it, I'm still in shock. I'm excited, but still a little nervous to see how things go. I had to POAS tonight just so I could see the word on the test for my own eyes. It's so surreal.

My beta is 147, I'm going in for a second check on Friday. RE's office said that was very good, I'm taking her word for it. I don't know much about these numbers. She also said it's good but to also just take it one day at a time for now.

Just praying those numbers will keep going up.

~Irish

Congrats!
That is a good first beta number. You just want them to at least double every 2-3 days and that's one indication that all is growing well. My signature basically tells my story but I'm currently 5w4d and waiting for my first u/s next Tues.
What was your treatment plan if you don't mind me asking? Let me know what your next beta number is!
Congrats again!

Hi Triciaism,

Thank you! I had another beta today, it's 241, not quite doubled in 48 hours, I hope that's okay. I got the message from the RE's office that the number is very good. I'm still very nervous though excited. It really feels surreal.

I left a message for the nurses office at my RE's asking them about the doubling and stuff, they also said in the message that I didn't need to come back for a week, so I should take it as a good sign.

I haven't upgraded to be able to put signatures in and trackers in yet. But i don't mind you asking about my treatment at all.

My RE skipped the Clomid cause of my possible PCOS and other thyroid issues and went straight to the shots. I did FSH (Gonal-F) every day starting CD4 with blood tests and u/s every 2-3 days. When my follies were around 16-18mm, I got triggered with Ovidrel and then had an IUI two days later. My ins pays for unlimited IUI's but only two IVF's per lifetime, so my plan was to keep doing IUI's with some accupuncture for about a year and then move onto IVF's. I never expected to get a BFP after three cycles. And the funny party is that we were gonna skip this cycle and I changed my mind at the last minute.

Congrats on your BFP! I'm so happy for you, you are just a few weeks ahead of me.

I hope your ultrasound goes well, I can't wait for mine, probably in about 3 weeks.

Keep in touch, feel free to send me a PM if you ever want too.

Hi,
It's still fine that your beta "almost" doubled in 48hrs. That means by 72 if would have for sure and that's what they look for in my understanding. My first bfp my beta was 74 and 14dpiui and they said it was fine/good/really good. Mine did not progress a nicely after that so later became a m/c but you are looking like your on the right track so far.
I was 34 when I started the tx side of ttc which was 2 1/2 yrs. ago. But my dh and I have been together 10yrs. and not preventing for 9yrs. I have confirmed PCOS so I knew it was going to be a journey for me. I wish I would have tried sooner w/tx but my dh had to get ready also. Sounds good that your RE didn't mess w/clomid - mine only did three rounds (50, 100, then 150) and then said that alot of RE's would try a higher dose but why bother - so I went to the injectables from there. Glad I did not waste any more time.
How nice that your insurance covers unlimited IUI's - mine only does three bfn's in a row and they send you private (IVF or whatever). I had to fight for my two extra because they were not good cycles. Nice to know you do have the option of IVF also - many people do not. Glad you didn't need it though.
Keep me updated on your progress! My u/s is Tues. so praying all looks good and is the right size.
Take care,
Hopefully we can compare notes as we go!

Hi there,

Good luck with your u/s on Tuesday. Yeah, I'm feeling pretty good about my beta.

Today I'm feeling very crampy, almost like I would have with AF, but not quite as severe. My appetite is all over the place, I'm not hungry then I'm starving, I eat something and then 5 minutes later I'm starving again.

This is so weird.

Definatly keep in touch about your progress. I read your other post, sounds like you are feeling a little better with you symptoms. Though I don't like feeling queasy and nausea, I feel more a little less nervous when it happens, like that's the way it's supposed to be. I just don't know what these cramps mean, I've had some on and off, but they have been pretty constant today.

Irish - I'm new here too. You and I got the good news on the same day! Oh, and we're both in MA. Um, and I'm 33 too.

Your #s sound good, right in the range. Funny that you've been getting hungry at random points. I thought I was making up that same symptom in my head, but I have been getting hungry alot lately. No other symptoms to speak of yet, but I figure it's still early. No use stressing over it, ya know? I don't know about the cramps; have you checked in with your dr about it?

Anyway, hi *waves*. Glad to see we have so much in common.

Triciaism - best of luck with your U/S tomorrow. Your journey sounds like a long one; I'm hoping for a boring and uneventful pregnancy for you!

Hi Undertherader,

Congratulations! Thanks for posting, it's nice to have as much support as possible and with those who have some things in common. I do live in MA and actually in the Boston area as well.

Yeah the hugry thing is weird, I feel starving then I eat something and get full really easily. I'm having trouble distinguishing between hunger and thirst feelings, usually I can tell the difference. No sore breasts yet, guess those come later, but I have had a lot of waves of nausea and threw up a few times, Dr's office says it can happen earlier, esp with the extra progesterone.

My RE's office told me that I would feel cramps like gas pains and feelings of stretching which are both normal. Yesterday my cramps felt more like AF and I got a little nervous, but thanks to reassuring words on these threads I feel much better about it. I've had no spotting which is good.

I'm looking forward to getting my next set of betas on Friday.

I hope you continue to have good betas.

Definatly stay in touch.

Congrats again and hi wave back.

Wow, nausea so early? I haven't felt any nausea yet, but my boobs were a little sore yesterday.

Best of luck with your next set of betas. My clinic only does one beta, and if strong enough, they don't do a second one. I did beg though and got a second one, and all looked good. But that's it for me at this point. Next step is an ultrasound on Thursday. I'll be 5wks 1day by then, which is a little early. I'd wait till next week but we'll be on vacation then. The main objective of the upcoming U/S is to check for a possible ectopic, so I don't have to wait till 8wks, when we return. We'll be out of the country, so better to know sooner, just in case.

Congrats again. I hope things continue to go smoothly (except for the nausea of course!).
