Beta Update - I need advice

Hi, so I am giving an update on my Beta numbers...

TTC for 23 months.
Became pregnant with 2nd IUI. Using clomid & injectibles.

HCG#1 (14dpo) 328
HCG#2 (16dpo) 574
HCG#3 (19dpo) 775
HCG#4 (21dpo) 1060 - ultrasound showed nothing.

I go in tomorrow (23dpo) for HCG #5 and ultrasound #2. The RE fears ectopic but I have no symptoms of one. He says if we can't see where it is we need to assume it is ectopic. If my numbers/ultrasound don't look good tomorrow, they want to give me the methotrexate shot tomorrow evening. I really don't want this shot. I have read so many stories of healthy babies being born with slow rising betas. I also don't want to deal with 2 weeks of possible side effects. Can't go in the sun...things like that. I would really appreciate any thoughts/advice/prayers.

Thanks.

Hi. I am no expert, but I thought I remember reading that you need to have a beta of 2000 to see something-not sure what. I know when I had an ultrasound at 5 or 5.5 weeks we saw a sac and possible yolk. And by then my hcg was over 3000.

I would hold off on the shot until they can give you some conclusive reason that this isn't viable.

Good luck to you!

A gestational sac should be visable by now. It's the fetal pole that may not show up till a little later. But they should see at least a sac by now in the uterus. I still agree that you should wait a few days and do another u/s, but honestly it's best to take care of an ectopic early on before you have symptoms. By the time you have symptoms it's often about to rupture. I had one at 6 weeks and was in severe pain with bleeding and had to have surgery. I wish I had the shot earlier. ((((hugs))))

Beta Update

I went in yesterday for bloodwork & u/s. Again, the ultrasound showed nothing, and my numbers had only risen to about 1500. I had the methotrexate shot. I agreed with the doctor that is was safer this way. I go in on Monday for second set of shots.

We'll start again in November.
