weird betas / low, not changing - any ideas?

I am really confused about what is going on. I had the following blood results

7/20 betaHCG 1.4
progesterone 1
7/23 betaHCG 6.5
7/25 betaHCG 6.x
progesterone <1
7/29 betaHCG 6.x

The nurse today only said it is unusual that the betas are neither going up nor (especially) going down, and that I should repeat the beta HCG in 1 week.

To add to confusion, the 1st test on 7/20 was a day 3 test! (i think they did the bHCG test together with FSH & LH by mistake then because of a lost lab slip). I had been on prometrium for 12 days to start that period. When I look back, I have at least 1 day with high LH while I was taking prometrium - but my LH is high often enough to not mean much, so it's tough to conclude much.

Any ideas what all this means, other than that this is very unlikely to be a viable pregnancy, would be really appreciated! The first appointment I can get to see the doctor is in 2 weeks, and 2 weeks is so long!

Wow! That is crazy. Are you saying that you were about to start a cycle and they did a beta on day 3? Are you still on any meds? If I were you, I would go up to a planned parenthood or some other kind of clinic and try to get another beta test to get a new number.
