Low Beta - Please tell me there's hope!
This is my first time over to this board. I am looking for all of the hope I can find!
The Beta just came in at 18.9. I am 10dp6dt of one frozen embie. My RE is concerned that it may be chemical so I go in on Monday for more bloodwork. Please please please tell me some of you have seen this pull up. DH is devestated right now and I am doing my best to keep it together for the three of us (homie too). I was just shocked that 2 POAS (I did one again this morning) came up with the faint positive at that low number...

Thank you for asking...Here are my numbers now:
Beta #1 @ 10dpt = 18.9 (RE wanted closer to 50) Beta #2 @ 12dpt = 30.3 (RE wanted closer to 40 for doubling) Beta #3 @ 14dpt = 58.8 (barely a double at 95%) They are still concerned though my little bean almost doubled (like 95%). They were thinking ectopic at this point but I have no tubes. So, now I go back Monday for another Beta and an ultrasound to see if we can figure out what the heck this little bean is doing.

Thanks for asking...
My u/s was uneventful. My lining was still thick, 11mm and my RE did not see anything (no sac or anthing) that would cause alarm for ectopic. My beta came back (right at 5pm - I was so mad) at 410. I was thrilled because he more than doubled - like double every 1.76 days. The nurse stated that the "doctor" (who was not my regular RE) noted in the chart to prepare me for ectopic procedures and have more monitoring. I went ballistic yelling at her asking what the heck did they want from my embie???? They wanted doubling all along, he does better than that and they still weren't happy. I sent a scathing e-mail that I am only speaking to my RE only so I should hear back from her tomorrow to see what to do next. Personally, I am very happy with my homie... What do you think?

congrats on your beta...
from what I remember you can't see ANYTHING until your beta is around 3000...so I have no idea why they would check this early in the first place just to cause you extra worry. My last beta was 1681 ish and two days later was my US and even then my RE said he was unsure if we'd see anything. We only saw a tiny (and I mean tiny) sac...no HB or yolk sac. So, I still have LOTS of hope for your little bean! |

AND.......... I just did your betas' doubling times and I don't see a problem. They are suppose to double ever 48-72 hours...yours ARE doing that!!!
19 to 30 is 3.03 days 30 to 59 is 2.04 days both are great and getting faster! I had a first beta of 16 at 9dp5dt and now am 15 weeks pregnant with a singleton. I don't want to give you false hope, but I have LOTS and LOTS of hope for you! Last edited by bellastar; 08-04-2008 at 09:21 PM. |

Thank you! I have hope too. I was cautious at first, but my doubling times from Beta 3 to 4 got much shorter (less than 48 hours) so since he is getting stronger & quicker, I have much more hope now than before!
