Krista68 Level 1
HCG doubling rates et al

Hello,

After having gone through ART to get here, a whole new level of concerns start as many of you probably share with me.

My doubling rate is a factor of 1.66 every 24 hours (or doubling every 32 hours). Does anyone know how long that doubling rate stays like that? Meaning at which week does the the doubling start slowing down?

Also, does anyone have any experience with HCG levels and down syndrome. I can not find anything that explains what an "abnormally high" HCG is for a downs baby would be. I am 40 and my numbers are really high for a singleton 1752 on 19dpiui so obviously fretting a bit. Now my u/s isn't until this coming Friday so maybe there is more than one "cooking", but I am still looking to see what info there is about levels of HCG in down babies.

Thanks!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!!!

A doubling rate of 32 hours is excellent. In general, your levels should double about every 2-3 days. I've seen lots of numbers that double better than 48 hours and some even triple in two days!

I don't think that your beta level is as high as you think! I was 39 when I conceived my youngest. My beta level at 20dpiui was 3377. That's a little higher than yours at 19dpiui.

I just calculated my doubling time from 13 days to 20 days and it was 36 hours! My dd is perfect. My beta numbers with her sister was very similar and she's also just fine.

I remember looking to see what the hcg levels in downs babies are when I was stressing about my own betas. There seemed to be very little information about it. I have heard though that the numbers aren't just a little high, they're off the charts high. And your beta seems to be right on for where you are.

Best wishes for a happy, healthy pregnancy and baby! Congratulations again and god bless!
