So my first beta was 30 on July 14. I had my second today, July 16 and it was 49.7. On the 14th I was 14 dpiui. My question is - should I be worried? I went up 60%, but didn't double. I'm a bit freaked, to be honest. I have another beta on July 18.

Nerwal ~ I was checking to see how you were doing in your cycle. I received my first 2 betas and similar to you only went up about 65% +/-.

UPDATE: My betas: 7/14 - 30; 7/16 - 49.7; 7/18 - 72; 7/22 - 93; 7/25 - 73
I started bleeding Sunday (7/27) afternoon (heavy spotting) and passed some large clots and tissue (like1.5" in diameter) yesterday. Cramps have been horribly painful (especially an hour before the big tissue passed - I was neaseous from the pain) and the bleeding has been off and on in heaviness. Looks like I am miscarrying naturally (thank god). I went in for a beta again today, so we'll see if my numbers continue to drop. Thanks to everyone for the support. |

I'm sorry Nerwal, I hope your m/c is over fast. That is horrible news, and I feel so bad for you. I see you're in Houston, I hope you have a good RE to help you with your next try, and I can tell you about my RE if you are interested. I've not experienced it before, but I would prefer to never get BFP than to go through a m/c as I think it's harder on you. Take care of yourself and remember that you did everything perfectly.

Hi Sarah! I think the worst of it has passed. I'm trying to stay positive and focused on the good - I can get pregnant, it wasn't ectopic, and since I m/c naturally I should only be out of the TTC game for a month or so. And in that month, I can take a nice break and relax with a coule of drinks (I had been avoiding w/ all the meds and everything).
So far I'm pretty happy with my RE - I'm over at Houston IVF with Dr. McKenzie. Out of curiousity, who are you with? Thanks for the support and well wishes - I really appreciate it. And I hope to never have to go through this again and wish the same for you (and everyone, really). |

Hi Nerwal, I love to share with everyone about my RE of course!
My RE is Rakesh Mangal at FSH/OGA at Fannin & Greenbriar in the med center. I consulted with Hickman at HIVF a few months back as I felt a strong need to get a second opinion on all my past and current treatments before I dove in and paid all that $$ for IVF. My friends have gone to Hickman and McKenzie and have had awesome results and are of course very pleased. In the end, Hickman made me realize (probably unintentionally) that Mangal was being very pro-active and aggressive in my treatments to a point that Hickman would have cancelled some of my past cycles, and I'm glad that I had Mangal who took some risks on me and provided additional opportunities for me to try to get pg. He sacrificed some of his evening and weekend time to vigilantly monitor my cycles. He's such a nice guy. He already got me my DD, and now I'm on pg#2 through him. I did get OHSS on this last cycle, but that's what happens when you take risks sometimes. It's OK. If you ever need any laparoscopic surgery, Hickman said he sends all their patients to Mangal btw. I think the HIVF is a great place and probably has much better personal patient management. At FSH/OGA, it is sometimes very hurried and frustrating. The other thing was that FSH IVF costs a little over half what the HIVF's IVF fee is. Since I'm paying out of pocket, that was a big deal. I hope you feel back to normal soon, and enjoy those drinks! |
