slow rising hcg, brown spotting
Let me give you a little background info first...DH and I had been ttc for over two years. I had a problem-free pregnancy with my daughter (with my ex-husband) 8 years ago. DH have had three unsuccessful iui's. A few months a go, we decided to give up fertility treatments and focus on adoption...
On Saturday, I thought I started my period, however all I had was some brown spotting, which I am still having. On Sunday, I had a pos hpt. On Monday night (7pm) my hcg was 57. Yesterday (Wednesday) morning (11am) it was only 90. My Ob said well it could go up, or could be a miscarriage or ectopic, but he thought the numbers were really low and was not encouraging. I'm going for another hcg tomorrow. I'm not exactly sure when my LMP was but I'm positive it was between the first and third of june. Looking back at my calendar from when we were ttc, my cycles can range from 26-33 days. I have had an iui done on as late as CD 21. I am really hoping that I o'd late, and the numbers will pick up...but again I'm still having that brown spotting. Anyone have anything encouraging to share? Leah

Brown spotting is old blood and can be from implantation. I had brown/pink spotting for two weeks with my 8 month old. Your doubling time is less than three days. Your beta should double every 2 to 3 days so you're on target. Your betas were taken less than 24 hours apart so I wouldn't expect that they would have already doubled. They were even close for them being taken so close together.
Please update your beta number tomorrow. I will be saying prayers for you! Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Thanks for the reply. The betas were actually about 40 hours apart. My ob just called to remind me to get blood drawn tomorrow (like I could forget) and again said that he thought the numbers were low and didn't rise adequately. But then he said that everything might be ok, that stranger things have happened. So, I'm still hoping for the best.
