At what week was your first U/S? (m/c mentioned)
Hi,
I am 5 weeks along and the 3 b-HCGs looked very good (testosterone too). I had recurrent m/cs last year. So, to make sure things are on track, my doc is willing to scan me next week. Honestly, I'm afraid of not seeing an HB before 7.5 weeks. One woman recently posted that she saw HB at 6 weeks and that's EXCELLENT since sometimes it cannot be seen then and then it's necessary to WAIT for another week or so, which would make me too anxious considering what I went through last year. How early did you have your first scan and when did you first see your baby's HB? Thanks. -Victoria

I think it is more realistic in seeing the HB after the 6th week. For my first pregnancy (triplets) we saw 2 gest sacs and 2 yolk sacs at 5w5d. At 7w0d there were 2 gest sacs, 3 yolk sacs and 3 HBs.
This pregnancy I saw NOTHING but a small gest sac at 5w6d. At 7w0d I saw HB, yolk sac and fetus. This pregnancy has been in limbo ever since. So, I think if I were you I would look forward to seeing the yolk sac and fetal pole the first US. If there is a HB that would be an added bonus. |

I think that everyone is different and some pregnancies just start off slow.
I saw a gestational and yolk sac at 5 weeks 4 days and then at 6 weeks 4 days I saw the HB of 140. Alot of Dr.'s like to wait until at least 7 weeks or after. Good Luck. |

7.5 weeks with both my PGies. Saw Yolk sac and HB in both.
I was going to have an U/S at around 6 weeks and the ladies here adviced me to wait. I'm glad I did. Your situation is different and I think it's a good idea to expect to just see the sac and the fetal pole. As one pp said, if you see a HB, it's an added bonus... Good luck! |

Thank you for your replies. Actually, my doctor originally had me schedule my first u/s at 7.5 weeks. Last year at my 7.5 week u/s all we found were two empty sacs. A week and ten days later, all we saw still were two empty sacs. My babies did not make it.
Since I had that experience last year, I asked to be scanned early this time to "make sure" my baby is growing okay. I asked for a 6 week scan. BUT, since at 6 weeks it might be too early to see a HB as some of you have reported, I think that i"ll hold off to 7.5 weeks. If my pg is viable, then I should see the little HB then. I don't want to go through the waiting and worrying like last year with the two blighted ova (I have PCOS and that's why the doc thinks my babies didn't make it.). So, scanning at 6 weeks may not be a good idea for me, in case that is too early to see HB even if the pg is healthy. My betas look great and I am now getting a raging case of morning sickness. I feel in my heart that this pg is normal. |

For both of my pregnancies I had a scan done at 5 1/2 weeks. For my 1st pregnancy we saw 2 heartbeats and 2 embryos (7 1/2 weeks we found the third hb on the u/s). For my singleton we saw the hb at 5 1/2 weeks. Every pregnancy is different. I do believe it has alot to do with the babies position and angle because they are so small. Best wishes!!

I had my u/s at 7wks. The scan said I was 6wks 3 days (this was at 30dp5dt. and 47 days after my LMP). This was a natural FET of 4 5-day blasts on 6/12 - ovulation was 5/6.
The HB was 136 bpm and the gestational sac and yolk sac were visible. I'd been nervous before my u/s because I've had pregnancies in the past that at 7 wks showed empty sacs and one showed a blighted embryo. That heartbeat was the best thing I'd seen in ages! |

To me, a six week scan is just too early. It can cause unnecessary worry in the case you don't see a h/b. I had my first scan at 7 weeks exactly. And there was a little heartbeat.
