your numbers are more than doubling, so i would say there's defintely hope!!! the fact that they are low isn't as important as how they are multiplying and yours are doing great! good luck!!!

hi phyllis....

i had cramps and spotting with 2 pgs. i would've sworn AF was coming any minute. it went on for days. then the spotting stopped but the cramps continued.

spotting and cramping in early pg is extremely common. it doesn't mean the worse. hang in there!!

Hi there Phyllis & all!

I really feel for you. I'm new to this whole forum thing & I'm in almost the same position as you are. If anyone has any comments on the following, I'd love to get them!

I'm 41 1/2 and had 5 embs. transferred on 5/20/08, 3dt, all seemed to be good qual. according to Dr. but 1st Beta - 5/29 was 3. told that I wasn't pg, but wait for the next beta just in case. Dh & I were devastated
2nd beta - 6/2/ was 10. told I'm technically pg. but numbers are so low may not be a normal pg. try another test in 2 days 3rd beta - 6/4 today was 16. Dr said prob not normal pg. as #s are still so low.
I have heard that though 66% of women double their betas every 2 days, 90% do double their betas every 3 days, but the Dr. is still pretty sure that it's an abnormal pg. Told me to try 1 last test just to see on Fri, but I was advised by another IVF Dr to try on Sat, though he also said #s are very low. Is there any hope?
Phyllis, at least you seem to be doubling every 2 days. I'll be praying for you too.

Went for Beta #5 on 6/4 – 62 which more than doubled but the cramping and spotting has turned into passing clotted blood. Dr gave me a few different scenarios: 1) Blood clots could be clumped up progesterone (I am on injections + suppositories 2) One embryo could be implanted and one miscarrying 3) I could be miscarrying completely. I have an app’t for US Friday but the Dr does not seem hopeful.
Hopeful09, my Dr was not so concerned about the low #'s, they are now concerned b/c of the bleeding. Your #'s could still increase, keep your chin up!

Hey Phyllis,

My sit. is mirroring yours. I also started with some brownish staining yesterday, which has turned to cramping & some bright red today. My 4th beta tomorrow, still praying for a miracle, Hoping things are going better for you. Keep us updated please. Sending positive vibes your way!

May I join in? I just rec'd BFP today and my beta was 179, however I was told that on top of the progesterone injections that I am taking that my progesterone was low and they want me to do progesterone injections in the "behind" plus vaginal progesterone suppositores. Is that a bad thing? Has anyone ever been instructed to do that and have a positive outcome or have a positive story to share. I thought the 2WW was bad, but now its' the blood work you have to do after the BFP to ensure numbers are climbing up. I go get some more blood work done on 6/19 to see how my beta number is doing I don't really understand the Beta numbers because some women get a lower Beta than mine and are fine with their pregnancy and some get higher. Does anyone know what it all means?

For all with the bleeding. I had spotting 9 days after transfer, I was told possible implantation bleeding. I had minor minor spotting again today I was told by my nurse it is common with pregnancy for first trimester
