To give hope...Child Mentioned
Ladies -- This board provided so much support for me during my IVF and pregnancy, and I thought I'd send a note of encouragement and share my story.
My beta was 43 (I think I posted 48 in response to another thread, but now that I think about it, it was 43) at 14dp5dt. That means that at 12dp5dt it probably only was in the low 20s and it might not have registered at 10 days, which is when many of you test. I have a healthy, wonderful 9 month old daughter. I also will note that I bled throughout my first trimester. There were several occasions when my RE (and I) thought I was having a m/c, but when I'd go in for an u/s, a little hb would be there. I know that the 2ww is awful, but I really wish that some REs wouldn't test until a full two weeks, because many people truly have late implanters. Good luck to all. This does work.

Thank you for your post, QueenChelsea!!! If I am ever in your position, I will certainly post, too, because we spend so much time reading the negative experiences!
I have low betas, but they have doubled as required. They were: 12dp3dt = 19 14dp3dt = 34 16dp3dt = 83 23dp3dt = 773 I am currently waiting for my 1st US on Wednesday this week. I'm very nervous as I've been told that things may not work out. I, too, have had a few occasions where I bled and then had some cramping. I cautiously optimistic (as they told me to be), but have to prepare myself for the worst. The good news is that I got pregnant after 2+ years of trying. This was my first IVF cycle and I transferred one embryo. Diane |

Hi QueenChelsea,
I happened to be online and got an email that you posted. I, unfortunately, do not have good news to share....I ended up with an early miscarriage. They were not able to see any evidence of the pregnancy by US, and later that day, I got the results that my hcg dropped to 20. So, I had a followup visit. The RE said they look at this as a good thing, even though I wasn't able to maintain the pregnancy. They are optimistic for me, which makes me feel good. I am planning to try my 2nd IVF asap....I am waiting for my period to start the bcp's. Anyway, thanks for thinking of me. We are hoping for better luck next time!!! Diane |

Diane -- I'm so sorry about your loss. Your RE is correct though -- an early pregnancy is signs that you can get pregnant, which is the first step! My first pregnancy ultimately was deemed a chemical pregnancy. My numbers went up, but oh so slowly and then nothing. I got pregnant with my DD the next cycle. So hang in there.

Queen Chelsea,
Thanks for posting! Yesterday, at 10 days post 5 day transfer, I had a beta of 10. I go back tomorrow. I know my chances are low, but not impossible, after looking at your betas. More than anything, I have the courage to try again since I DID get pregnant this time. Is there anything I should be doing right now to help the embie burrow in more?

Congratulations! Nope, nothing you can do at this point, just wait. Just be prepared that tomorrow's beta probably won't give you closure unless it jumps dramatically, which is possible. Assuming your clinic wants to do a third beta, just be insistent that they let you go in on Saturday, as opposed to having to wait until Monday! At my clinic, they only did betas during the week, and limited weekend work to monitoring, but if you were really nice, then they would fit you in...
Keep posting! Good luck! Jennifer |
