Confused about beta ... 2nd #'s came back
Can someone help me explain the whole beta doubling thing? I feel sick right about now!!
Beta 8/21 was 298 Beta 8/23 was 549 I was expecting at least 600 but hoping for 700. Yet it's 549??? I went to the HCG calculator on obfocus.com and it said the doubling rate was 2.26 days & another site said 54.45 hrs .... what does that mean? I'm sorry numbers aren't my thing. I thought they had to double every 48 hours. Some say 72 hrs but majority are 48 right?? Tomorrow I'll be 5 weeks, LMP 7/21. I O'd CD18 on Aug 7 Now I'm upset I called dh and he said they are doubling at a rate of 85% over 2 days. both tests were also done at the same time - 11:35am. I'm still worried!!!! Thanks for any help you can offer.

I wouldn't worry....the #'s almost doubled....my cousin is currently 6 months pg - her beta's went DOWN and she spotted the first 11 weeks. She went for weekly U/S and on each requisition it said "probably miscarriage" or
"?ectopic". She was preparing to lose this baby and now everything is fine!! Keep the faith!!! |

You want your beta to double in 72 hrs. In 48hrs you are looking for at least a 60% increase. So you are actually ahead of that with 85%.

I can't thank you enough .... I'm so relieved! I know it's early days yet but every little bit of good news helps, right?! After 3 and a half years and then losing my son at 20 weeks I need some good news
Thanks ladies

Like the others said, every 72 hours is what they expect in terms of doubling...that being said, mine didn't double in 72 hours with my second pregnancy, he turned 3 on Monday
Good luck..I think you are fine!
