Singleton or Twins...its close.
Hello
I got my first beta results on Tuesday, 13dp5dt, and it was 500. My RE said it is a really strong singleton....with a slight possibility of twins. I went in for my 2nd beta today, and haven't gotten the results yet. Tomorrow they'll be in. If it is twins, is the beta # usually higher than doubling? I guess the only way to know for sure is the u/s .... but that is 2 weeks away!!! More waiting!!!!! Calimom

Hmm...not sure about that one. You can see the doubling times for both singletons and twins on w w w . b e t a b a s e.info.
Congratulations! Hope this helps! Athena

You honestly can not tell for sure until the u/s unfortunately. My first beta at 17dpo (and I was on a medicaed cycle with u/s's so I know exactly when I O'ed) was in the 60's, then two days later it didn't quite double, two days after that and it just barely doubled from the second draw.. I ended up with twins though, but because of the not doubling we weren't sure at first if it was even a viable singleton. There can be low betas for twins and high betas for singletons. I wish you the best of luck and may the next two weeks pass faster than you expect them too. I know it is torture!!

I've learned that while you can use betas as a general guide, they're not that great of a predictor for singletons vs multiples. I had pretty high betas (see my sig) and even my RE was convinced I had more than 1 in there. On my 1st u/s he kept searching for the other(s). However I just have 1 - one who implanted early and started producing HCG early. I've seen girls w/ much lower betas than mine end up w/ twins or triplets. Good luck!
ETA - Your 13dp5dt (or 18dpo) number was in the 500's, mine was in the 2000's - like I said, you never can tell.

Beta are wacky..... My RE says its the jump in numbers usually 3-4x's more..... That would make her think twins...But the only sure way is the u/s......
My beta 11dp5dt 639 13dp5dt 2203 15 weeks pg with twins........ Wishing you the best..... when is your u/s?

Beta Update
Hi Everyone...
Thanks for your responses... My second beta at 15dp5dt was at 1240....so it a little more than doubled. I go in for another beta on Thurs... ( 22p5dt ) My U/S is scheduled for next Wed ..... 8-29 at 1030 I am so curious to see what the results are!!!! But, I guess as long as the baby(ies ) are healthy, that is what should be most importnant. I need to not forget that~~~~ My IP's are super excited, and I know they are on pins and needles waiting for the u/s. ![]() I'll keep ya'll posted!! Thanks again for you feedback. Calimom |

I didn't know your situation was surrogacy!! I think anyone that does that is such a special person. I wish you and your IP's the best of luck. Can not wait to hear the news on about the U/S.
