Blighted ovum?

My betas were as follows:
14 dpo=12
16 dpo=25
20 dpo=215
23 dpo=1,642

My 6 week ultrasound showed only a gestational and yolk sack. No fetal pole/heartbeat and it was measuring 4 weeks 5 days. We did IVF so I know that we are at 6 weeks. The doctor says that he does not know where the week went...just wait and do another ultrasound in a week. We are scheduled to go on Thursday. I have had on and off brown spotting: sometimes light brown and sometimes dark brown. Does this sound like a blighted ovum? I have been told from the beginning that because of my levels this may not be a viable pregnancy. This waiting is the worst. I just want to know something. We want to be able to be excited or to just go on with our lives. Has anyone had a similar situation? Could this be a blighted ovum?

I'm sorry you're going through this. The waiting is terrible. I've had 3 blighted ova. With mine, my beta never doubled. With my last one, my 1st beta was 118 and the 2nd was 203. I had several more done and they just never quite took off. They were rising, but not how they should've been. Your doubling times look really good. You don't normally see a h/b until your beta reaches around 6,000. Maybe the embryo bounced around for a long time and it implanted late. That's definitely not unheard of. Do you think he might repeat your beta?

I had a blighted ovum in Oct. My hcg was only tested twice and it was fine. At around 5 weeks my preg symptoms started to go away and I was spotting brown on and off until my u/s which confirmed the empty sac at 6 and a half weeks. I hope your results end up better. Hang in there.

I had a blighted ovum with my first pregnancy. My hcg numbers continued to double until 9 wks were my RE did another ultrasound to confirm blighted ovum. It was...my body was just not miscarrying and my hcg was continuing to rise. They called it a missed miscarriage so my RE did a D&C. It ends up that it had a chromosome 16 and 22 abnormality which was incompatible with life.

I had no spotting, bleeding, or cramping.

I started this thread and we went for our ultrasound today, I should be 7 weeks, but I am measuring 6 weeks and 1 day. Heart beat was 117, which the ultrasound tech said was low...has anyone had experience with ivf and the baby measuring late?

You can measure a week ahead or behind and be fine.
