Beta Doubling Time Increasing
I have read a few threads and went on the beta site.
It seems like beta numbers are all over the place, but I did read that increasing doubling time may mean multiples...not necessarily the absolute number??? Can anyone advise me on where to research more on this? 15dp3dt = 119 beta 17dp3dt = 301 beta 19dp3dt = 1019 beta You can see I went from a 35 hour doubling time to a 27 hour doubling time.

I'm certainly not an expert on this and hopefully others will chime in with their wisdom.
In my understanding, beta doubling is not an exact science and certainly some double in less than 48hrs, this has been the case in all our 3 viable pregnancies. The doubling rate for all was generally around 30 hrs, adjusted for time of day, all have been singleton pregnancies. As the beta is only a marker of the sac development I'd caution against reading too much into things at this point. (Easy for me to say, right?) Is your Doc continuing to do betas or are you waiting for an USS? Congratulations on the good strong numbers |

My RE says that he looks for a mixture of high numbers and high doubling times. When he saw my first beta, he thought twins, but combined with the high doublings times of my next two, he suspected triplets or quads. He was right... we're having triplets!
That said, another girl I know with trips had numbers literally HALF mine, and I know others with very high numbers and singletons. But, I do think that betas can be an indicator, even though u/s is the final answer. It was for me, at least. |

My first u/s was last Monday and I am pg with twins!
I guess what I learned about beta numbers is that they are all over the place since it is a hormone. I can't imagine that my husband's testoterone stays at a consistant level all day...that isn't how it works... |
