anyone successful with initial beta of 82 or lower? (prev m/c ment)
has anyone had success with a beta of 82 or lower at around 12dp3dt? I just did my FET beta, after six failed IVF's, and my beta results came in - it's 82 at 12dp3dt. of course I've thrown my "don't worry" attitude out the window and I'm already praying the next one doubles.
the RE here in kentucky, where I do my monitoring, said they're happy with any number over 50 and that 82 is great for 12dp3dt. and then I thought about it and how my m/c cycle was a 30 beta, so this is nearly three times that and that's a good sign. but my real RE, in california, said she likes to see 100. I'm gonna worry until beta #2 tho. I can't help it. it will be tomorrow.

Anything over 5 is considered positive. Your initial number is not as important as the number rising appropriately. You are looking for a 60% increase in 48hrs. 82 is a very strong first beta.

thanks, liz. I guess I'm dealing with previous loss here, so I worry nonetheless. with my m/c, I had an initial beta of 30 that doubled in two days to 64, and then jumped to 173 two days later, and then 424 two days later. yet I still lost the baby. one RE told me that if you can't overcome the initial low beta with a substantial jump in numbers within a few days, the pregnancy is doomed. so my fears are based somewhere in my own reality.
thanks tho for your post. I appreciate it. |

KyGirl,
I've been looking for your update everywhere. While I am no beta expert after my 3 cycles (1 fresh, 2 FET), I'd just like to send you positive thoughts and wish you the best going forward. Best, Brandi |

thank you brandi and athena!
I talked to my RE and she made me feel better. She said that 82 is a world away from my previous 30, and that she sees 82 turn into successful pregnancies all the time. and that she considers it a strong and solid number. she said you never know for sure what a beta # will do and even those over 100 can turn sour, but not to worry, that 82 is a good one regardless. so yeah! I feel much better now. |

My first beta was 30 something, and my second was high 50's. And yesterday I had my u/s and we saw a heartbeat!! It was 150-so nice and strong!!! You probably just have a later implanter.

kygirl- I'm right there with you about worrying, but I agree w/everyone else. It's not the number, it's the doubling time. Having had two losses myself, I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry! I'm sure your next # will be great!
