2nd Beta dropped 5 points is it over?

Hi I just completed my 1st IVF cycle and did my 1st beta on Tuesday 12/5 which was 2 days earlier 12 dpt and 15 dpr then my scheduled beta for 12/7. I had received 7 positive hpts so I asked my ivf nurse to come in early my 1st beta was 77 and my progesterone was great dont remember numbers. Yesterday my RE called and said my it doesnt look good my beta was at 72 but my progesterone was great and rising it was over 40. He said that its possible that its a multiple gestation and one embryo isnt making it. But he said your still pregnant but we need to be realistic that this cycle wont work. Does anyone think I still have a chance or am I to prepare to get my period? Thanks.

So sorry you are going through this. In my experience on this board, I think that what your Dr. told you is very accurate. It could have been multiples and you lost one or it could be a m/c. I would expect the worst and hope for the best. ((((HUGS)))))
