VERY low betas, but doubling...any hope ??

Hello,
I have just completed my first IVF cycle.

I am REALLY confused and upset about the hcg levels. Can you see what you think????

These are my HCG levels:
(I had a 2 day transfer and had one embryo put back in._
14 days after transfer (16 from EPU): 36
15 days after transfer (17 from EPU): 50
16 days after transfer (18 from EPU): 67
17 days after transfer (19 from EPU) 95

One IVF nurse has told me it doesn't look good, they are too low and she is sure it won't be viable. Another had a look at them and thought that "yes, they are low, but they are double at a good rate - last one double 94% in 48 hours) and that this is a real positive.

I can't stop crying and am not normally like this..... But it is really messing with my mind - the not knowing.

I also don't know what to do from here. The clinic have just said to wait and see - the first nurse thinks my period may just start soon. The second one suggested that I come in for another bt on Thurs and maybe a scan Friday if levels are still increasing.

Can I PLEASE get as many opinions, stories, advise as possible. Please be honest with me.... I don't want any false hopes.....

Thank you so much,
Emma x

Many will say it's not the number that matters but how they double
i had 15 at 10dp3dt, 44.1 at 12dp3dt, 87,2 at 14dp3dt and 230 at 16dp3dt and am 13 weeks pregnant - my numbers aren't too far from yours

i have heard several times that betas under 200 do crazy things

maybe you have a late implanter

there is still some hope but be cautiously optimistic (which is exactly what i was told)

let us know what your next beta is An US will tell better than a beta test what is going on
I know exactly how you feel and it is horroble ... everyday waiting for that bad phone call from the lab... you'll get some answers soon... hang in there
good luck

Hi,

I'm surprised they are checking you every day. Looks like you're doubling every 48 hours, certainly a positive. My beta w/my 1st pregnancy on day 14 was in the 30s and I was told it could go either way. The nurse actually said, she's seen it go to a full term pregnancy, but she's also seen it fail. I do have to be honest and say that I m/ced at 5 wks 5 days, but I'm also 39 and my eggs aren't in the greatest shape to begin with.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, please let us know!
Susan

Todays beta was 163....so still going up ok, but I'm starting to lose hope...Looking at other peoples numbers, mine seem just way to low. I was hoping that maybe a BIG rise at some stage might occur and put me back in with a chance.
I go to my ob/gyn on Friday and I will be exactly 5 weeks past transfer (2 day transfer)..... Do you think he will be able to tell anything via ultrasound?
Thanks so much for all your replies.

I'm in the same boat

This is my second attempt at IVF. The first ended in a miscarriage around 8 weeks, after seeing a strong FHB. It came as a complete shock to both my doctor and me.

Here are my betas this time around:
9 dp3dt - 12.55
12 dp3dt - 48, 37.2 hours doubling
14 dp3dt - 95.1, 48.66 hours doubling

I think I need to just stop with the betas and hope for the best. My 1st US is scheduled for Dec 11.

Anybody out there with similar numbers and a good outcome? I need some reassurance.

Thanks,
Shawn
