low 1st beta, higher 2nd...what do you think?

Hi everyone,

We just had our 6th IVF... We were so excited that we got a positive, but the first beta came in at 35 which was 11dp3dt (14dpo). We were cautiously optimistic... then the 2nd beta came in at 163 at 13dp3dt (16dpo). It more than doubled... what does that mean? Should I still be concerned? We transferred 2, 8-celled grade 1 embryos...

I so want to be excited about this pregnancy, but that first beta number just makes me nervous! Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Lisa

Lisa,

I would say your numbers look great! From everything I've read and been told it's not so important what the numbers are but that they are at least doubling. What did your dr say? Are you doing a third beta?

CONGRATS!

Lisa, your betas more than doubled. There are so many that started out with a low first beta that continued to double. When is your next beta? Rise again beta rise!!!!

Thanks girls for your quick responses! My third beta is on Monday, which is one week after my 2nd beta. I really hope I'm just being paranoid... just as soon as you jump over one hurdle there is a bigger one out there!

Thanks again!

Lisa

Lisa

My first Beta was only 35 and then my second 198 and it kept on going, your story is like mine and I know you are worried but I was a success and you will be also. I believe we put to much into comparing Beta numbers due to the fact everyone is differ and we just dont know whats right for one person isnt right for the other. Congrats on the pregnancy and have a happy and healthy 9 months!!!!!!!!!

Rhonda
