Beta's didn't double
Hi, my name is Kristen and I'm new here. I've been going to a fertility specialist for 3 months now. DH and I have been ttc for 16 months and recently received a bfp. The nurse told me on Tuesday (blood test was late Monday) that my numbers looked good. My beta was 69. They were concerned about my progesterone (7.15) and put me on the prog. suppositories. I had another blood test on late Wednesday and they called me yesterday to tell me it doesn't look good. My beta did not double. It only went up to 75. She said that rarely does this turn out well. I'm supposed to get another test on Monday.
I'm just wondering if you or anyone you know may have had a similar experience. This is frustrating to say the least. I'm kind of in limbo. I've had slight cramping, but was told that is normal w/ the suppositories. No bleeding or anything else significant. I've looked up signs of m/c on-line and don't seem to have any symptoms. I don't know if them having me wait until Monday is to see if I m/c over the weekend or not.

Hello. welcome, I am new here myself. I am sorry you have entered this sucky beta game. It really is not fun at all. Don't give up hope though, I have read so many people's on here that have not doubled at first and turned out ok, my still haven't doubled from the 1st one and I have had 4! (Granted, 1 was only a day later, but still no good news!) Hopefully your progesterone supp. help, keep some hope! I'll be thinking of you. I go back to the doc monday too to maybe have u/s and some other things, another beta sat. Big hugs. Oh I'm sorry, for your ref. my #'s are
1st-29 2nd-34 3rd-46 4th (1 day later)-51 next Sat.

Hi. I soo do not want to give you false hope but briefly tell my story. My first beta was 40
then 45 70 90 and then they finally started to double. Also my prog. was only a 9 and I was put on supp and it went up fast. Just be consistent of course on taking them and making sure they stay. Well I am 26W1D pregnant with the beta hell I went through. Good Luck. |

Thanks for sharing your stories. You're not giving me false hope at all. It just proves that it can happen. I wonder the actual odds on it. The nurse told me it rarely happens. Hhmmmm.
Well, I woke up today and still nothing. I jumped out of bed b/c I felt something, but it was just the medicine leaking out, thank God. My husband gave me a pep talk last night telling me nothing has happened yet, so I shouldn't be so upset and give up. I was worried about slight cramping last night, but when I woke up at 5 this morning to use another supp., I didn't have any cramping. About five minutes after I laid back down it started again, so it must be just from the prog. Good luck on Monday, sweetie! Hopefully we'll be as blessed as Katie! Katie, how long were you on prog before it started going up? Did your beta go up, too? Just curious. I found out Tuesday, got my prog supp that evening and started then. So, I only got two rounds of it in before my next blood test. She never did tell me my prog level, only my beta and that was why it didn't look good.

Hi there,
I had a very similar experience and I am now 25w pregnant. You can check out my betas below in my signature. I keep them there just in case they may help someone. When I was waiting my results, I know I searched and searched for any positive info I could find. My Re's nurse told me the same thing - I asked her what she thought and she told me in her 12 yrs exp she had never seen anyone with my numbers have a positive outcome. My RE said he felt it was non-viable and that we could stop the progesterone shots. My dh was very supportive just like yours is being and also said to not be upset until there was something for sure to be upset about (men can be so logical sometimes). Anyway, we decided to keep going with the shots so they sent me for an US and even then prepared us for the worst. I remember crying right before because I just wanted to get it over with and at that apt (6w5d) we actually saw a HB! Anyway, I wanted to share my story to give you hope but also want to say I had a really really hard time finding any positive info with non-doubling betas. I guess it can go either way but you found someone for sure who does not believe everything is textbook. I have a miracle baby for sure. If you want to send me a IM feel free to. I totally know what you are going through. I'll keep you and your bean(s) in my prayers. xo

Hi. My prog went up immediately. I never had it tested again cause I was on the max dose of PIO and suppositories so if that did not work then nothing would. Oh and as for the cramping, I had that through about the first 11 weeks. That is the baby burrowing deeper alot of times. You are also in my thoughts. Let us know.

Thanks for your positive stories! Right now my mom and dh are the only ones who know and both are being super supportive. They both believe the pregnancy will be okay. I'm going around 4:15 today for more blood work, so I won't know anything until tomorrow morning. It'll be a long wait!
Brutusbuckeye - what time do you go to the dr? Will you find anything out today? My prayers will be with you! |

I'm sorry you're going through this. It's so hard not knowing what is going on. I'm glad you got 2 story with great outcomes. With my 1st pg my beta's were 69 and 2 day later they were 79. I was told that I would m/c andt hat I needed my betas done in a week. Well for some reason the betas came back at 989. The dr couldn't explain what went on but wanted another betas done in a week. Those beta came back at 98 but I already knew I had lost the baby 4 days before that beta as I finally started bleeding.
Good Luck today! I hope your story end up like Katie and Tess's.
