beta with twins

Hi. I just moved over here from the infertility forum. DH and I found out today that we are PG. today is 13 dpiui and beta was 225. Progesterone was 85.2. I go in for a second beta on Saturday. I'm curious as to whether it's twins. Is there a way to tell that from the beta's--other than waiting for the first ultasound?

This will be DC #2. DC #1--beta was 38 then went to 142 48 hours later. My progesterone was also really low-14.01 and I took prometrium until 12 weeks.

Thanks,
Heather

The only definitive way to determine twins is via u/s. At 14 dpo my hcg level was 368. My RE said a good indication of whether it was multiples was if the numbers drastically increased in 48 hours, mine didn't even double but I'm now almost 21 wks pg with twins so you never know

Goodluck

Betas can fool you. I've seen normal doubling betas turn out to be mults and hugely increasing betas to be one.

My betas w/dd were 183@ 14dpiui and 735@ 16dpiui. I was concerned it was a mult pg, but i was a singleton.

My betas started off high (785 @ 17 dpiui) and my clinic had the same thoughts that I did, Twins! I'm 22w pg with a signleton.
