Are these numbers really as bad as my doc said?
Hi all,
I did IVF(2nd) and I had a beta 12 days after a 3 day transfer. It was 64 and they said way too low. Then exactly a week later it was 683 and they said even worse. Doubling time was 49 hours.I have another beta this tuesday and an ultrasound.Doc told me miscarriage for sure.To recap: 9/29 1st beta 15dpo=64 10/6 2nd beta 22dpo=683 (doubling time 49 hours) 10/10 3rd beta and an U/S Is this really over or do I have a small chance? Thanks in advance..... Jeun

Hugs, hun, try not to put too much stock in the numbers. Some doctors are so stuck on them they can't see straight. Your numbers DO NOT put you out of it. My 13dp3dt was 43.2 and my 20dp3dt was 399.8, quiet a bit less than yours. I am currently 10w pregnant and my IPs are expecting one little bean.
Hugs, do your very best to stay calm, that is the most important thing for your baby. Hang in there.

at 15dpo mine was 44.1 - I have seen a fetal sac and pole and next week to look for a heartbeat. My RE doesnt seem a bit concerned - wow I'm surprised your RE is so negative. Your numbers are increasing at a decent rate - I have heard of lots of stories with numbers lower than yours having successful pregnancy. Shame on him!

WOAH!! You said 49 hours?? The numbers only have to double every 72 hours. Mine only did like every 80 hours at first. Your numbers are great and way higher than mine were. I am 21W3D preggo!! Congrats and enjoy!

Thanks for the replies.
I'm very scared though.I have an ultrasound this tuesday to check if it's not ectopic and another beta. I've always had low hcg-levels.This is my 15th pregnancy.(2nd IVF) I've had 10 miscarriages and one stillborn babyboy due to a bloodclotting disorder(FactorVleiden) and 3 pregnancies that ended well.My kids are 17,13,12,12(yes twins too)My last 2 miscarriages were missed abortions.Currently I'm put on Fragmin(heparin) for my bloodclotting problems. And this is my last try.If this doesn't go well we're not trying again.I can't handle another loss. The docs are very negative about this pregnancy saying it's not viable. They say it's either ectopic or a blighted ovum.I'm hoping for a miracle...... But with all my losses I already had spotting or bloodloss at this point. I'm 5wk3d pregnant.I don't spot, bleed, cramp and my boobs hurt more and more,at times I get nauseous,I have heartburn and I'm tired. Trying to hang in there for now.....

You know what I think Jeun. Yes 64 was a bit low for 15 DPO BUT...doubling is what counts and your betas doubled in 49 hours. That is right on track. I can't imagine what the doctor wants?
It is WAY too early to say blighted ovum or ectopic. I wanna come over there and slap your doctor Jeun. After all your have been through. There are alot of ladies on Fertile Thoughts who had really low and non doubling numbers (and yours are neither) who are still pregnant despite what their docs believed. Don't give up even if your doc has.

Thanks Teresa....I have a third beta tomorrow and after that an
U/S....if my beta kept doubling at the same rate it should be around 2650 or so and they should be able to see something with a vaginal u/s. So for now I wait till tomorrow although the stress can't be healthy either... I will update tomorrow.... BTW.... How are you and Isaac doing? Bet your belly has grown a lot by now.!! ![]() (((hugs))) Jeun |

Jeun - Best wishes at your ultrasound. I hope the numbers just keep going up and up!
Yeah my belly is pretty large. Everyone on the street thinks I am sure any day.. . I was overweight to begin with but this is ridiculous. I DO look 9 months gone. I should post a pic but man I am larger than life!

Jeun _ I am sorry things aren't looking better and I am not trying to give false hope as you know the score as far as your history is concerned, but there are lots of ladies here whose numbers didn't double quite right here on Fertile Thoughts and they are still pregnant after struggling with recurrent losses.
Thinking of you are praying your little one catches up soon!
