While waiting for the day I can get my 4th beta, I have been using "First response" hpts. I get positive results, but extremely faint lines, which make me believe that my hcg is probably falling
![]() I am wondering if anyone has had faint lines (esp with this brand) but high betas?

I hate First Response! I decided this cycle that I would HPT every other day after having my IUI. I used a generic supermarket brand to save $$$ but it turned out to be quite sensitive! By 10dpiui I was still getting a very faint second line using the generic HPT. The next day, 11dpiui, I tested again with the generic brand (got a faint, but ever-so-slightly darker line) and also with First Response. The first response showed NOTHING. In fact, with the First Response I only got a very faint second line on 13dpiui when other brands were already showing a much stronger second line.
Today is 15dpiui and I get my beta results this afternoon : ) |

I agree with AmyBeth--- I haven't heard good things about first reponse and I myself don't like that brand either--- when I was pregnant and had fairly high beta numbers I tested with it and still got a very faint line.. other pregnancy tests the 2nd line showed up right away and much darker.
I'd quit using first reponse--- they'll just get ya worried.

HPT I bet ya i did about 15 tests as soon as i seen a faint line i was in denial thats what i contuined i even held it to the light finally about i week later i knew it was there but i left them overnight to dry and you really can see them better i know there no good but trust me leave it overnight.make sure you get a test that is sensitive to 20 ml of HCH rather than 50ml
Thanks

thank you ladies for your encouragement. I am going to get another brand right away, and probably not use 1st response again, period.
I am 22dpo and in the worst beta hell. 15dpo - 91 17 dpo - 133 19dpo - 134! ![]() now I await to test tomorrow 23dpo, but nurse has already told me that numbers will likely go down and that this pregnancy is looking like it will end. I have been devastated. After waiting 10 long months to finally be pregnant I cannot fathom how it can just end so quickly for me to be back to ttc for another who-knows how many months/years. I have been using 1st response tests to test in the mean time and been getting those faint lines, but if this brand is known for that then this is certainly not helping. I have been reading that stress can cause m/c and I am thinking that this beta hell alone can be a self-fulfilling prophecy in that case. Why even have all these beta readings? Gonna do what I can to minimize the stress of this (althought that's easier said than done) and see what happens to me. AmyBeth, BEST of luck on your beta reading today!!! and may you never know this hell. Pam. |

I also used First Response early detection test and got a light line. Much lighter than the control line. I did the test 3 times and all similar regardless of time of day (one was first morning urine). Had my beta today (same day as tested) and it was 188.
Good Luck. Brooke |

First Response
I don't like that brand either. I got a three pack and all three were positive with a very faint line and my beta yesterday was 327! So all that time I was taking those tests thinking my hcg level was going to be really low because the line was so light was for nothing 'cause my beta was really good. Anyway, glad to see your number did go up! Good Luck!
