Betas and u/s

Please help! I went in for my first u/s yesterday at 5w3d and saw one sac measuring right on target with a yolk sac and one other sac about 1/3 the size. The dr thought it was touch and go whether it would develop or be reabsorbed at this point. I go back for another u/s in a week. My question is this: my last beta at 22dpiui (Monday) was 9739. If this pg was really okay, wouldn't I have been able to see more in the big sac? Here's my thinking -- tell me if it's flawed....

If I was at 9700+ on Monday then by Wednesday afternoon (u/s time) I would have been close to 17,000, right? Well, at 17,000, even if there were 2 sacs that were equally distributed, I should have been at 8,500 for each sac, and wouldn't that be enough for a fetal pole? I'm pretty sure that the sacs weren't even split 50/50 since one was 9mm and the other was only 3mm. I guess my big problem is that I expected to see more based on the hcg levels (and so did my dr, but then she said that if we take the betas out of it and just look at the dates I'm right on target with one and 1 week behind with the other). Ladies, I am such a basket case right now. I'm so sure that this will end badly, as did the last 2 (m/c by 7 weeks). Please shed some light on this!! I know I am probably over analyzing but this wait is so incredibly impossible for me.....

Jenn

Sorry to hear you are going through such a tough time. Unfortunatly I think these things can go either way and it is just a matter of time to sort it all out. Try not to analyze all the numbers too much because I really think it is hard to know what is happening or what has happened..
It is so early and hard to see much at 5 wks 3d.

Hang in there and keep us posted.
